Getting better
My motorhome has a roof bar. Is there any reason why I cannot place an item weighing about 13kg on the roof and strapped onto this bar, either on one side or along the back, other than the obvious payload issue? The item would be 173 x 20 x 25 cm. Thanks

13kg is nothing, can't see any reason why not.
I would strap in to the side to reduce wind resistance.

no issue at all so long as you take account of the drag by strapping it down lengthways. Plenty of owners carry kayaks or paddle boards on the roof. Or strapped to the ladder I have seen too

We saw a motorhome last week which has a large roof for the over cab bed, but beyond that there was a set of roof bars and bike rack carrying several full size mountain bikes, We hoped they didn't encounter any tree branches

Many thanks all, much appreciated.

We're all wonder what you're gonna stick up there now! :giggle:

I've carried a spare tyre carcass up there for three months when we first went to Morocco (just in case". Laid on a protective sheet and well strapped down, no problems.
