Ludicrous insurance quote

But all goes through the same underwriters as far as I know, when I asked our office about this they said that the individual branch has very little say in the matter other than how they present the proposal.
The individual branches have a say in what business they take on.

I've been with Staveley Head for 10 years, unlike me to stick with the same insurer but they always quote competitively. It's usually about £250
We had ours with S H about £250 whenn renewal came ( last June ) £1000 plus Rang them "sorry we are with a new underwriter , I'll see what I can do and email you...email arrived just over £900.Moved to Lexham £350
( No accidents same van)

Renewed mine last July, it had gone up but I lowered the mileage and got it back to the usual £250.
Think I'll be on confused.com this July 🤔😏

We tried to renew with LV but as we are changing to a newer motorhome they would not insure that as it would be classed as a new policy.
Curious, we changed vehicles at the beginning of March and LV were happy to make the change to our existing policy

CAMC quoted £1300 to “renew” on my new van: I wasn’t happy
They rang back next day with £1100
Ripe wanted £650
Comfort got the business at £450
CAMC rang to remind me that I could renew for £1100: I told them I was going with Comfort. They rang a further 5 times over 2 days and everyone said they would add a note saying I wasn’t to be bothered again. At the 6th call I asked for a manager (got the team leader) who assured me I would not be bothered again. I ignored the text message asking me to ring them and was unimpressed when I got the next two phone calls, each one assured me I wouldn’t get another. Finally I got a manager who said they were having teething problems with a new system AND I haven’t heard anything else 🙄
Now Comfort were one of the dearest for me CAMC were the cheapest, don't seem to be any logic.

It doesn't show a limit but I'm only looking at screen shots of my cover the full docs are at home.
Last year their limit was £2000.

If using Adrain Flux be sure to check the company they are underwriting with. I had a quote from them and found them to be using TRADEX. They were the last stop for motortrade insurance years ago, Steer well clear , still have poor reputation.

I know I'm getting up the tree ,but Caravan and Camping Club
Quoted £1847.29
So I politely told them no deal
She then said I'll have another look came back with
£709.13 it was actually Howdens insurance brokers which is the new name for A1
I said sorry tooooooooo much , tried Ripe phone rang for 30 odd minutes no answer so gave them up.checked NFU, if no insurance policies with them can't insure motorhome, so Comfort insurance ,way tooooooooo expensive best deal Caravan and Motorhome Club ,so went with them.
Did you try caravan guard everyone praises them
including myself

I've just tried them and multiple others and all the comparisons. Ripe is the only one that gets close to my Comfort Renewal but once you add the extras it soon well over. Caravan Guard look great but £175 extra is just too much.

Does seem to be a dark art this motorhome insurance.

Probably just stick with comfort but the post about the European Breakdown issue (fuel leak) did get the spider senses tingling. I see they have changed breakdown provider again this year. T&Cs read OK but I guess you only find out when you need them.

I renewed my multi vehicle insurance, including the motorhome, with LV in March at a very reasonable price
Paul
Same here. We are very happy with their service.

Been through this hoop-la with some frustration this year. Renewal with Scenic £980 up from £460 last year. Used Go Compare and got a quote from CAMC of £580 but it wouldnt allow me to input storage site details (Cassoa Platinum facility) so phoned them direct and quote went up to £990. Followed up Saga quote of £600 through Go Compare......had to phone them direct to discuss a few issues......the customer non-service agent didnt understand the concept of secure storage and claimed their system did not hold details of Cassoa facilities......several conversations later the quote had risen to £1100 to reflect the fact that my van was not kept at home!

Finally, back to Comfort £600, unlimited mileage, job done. Last used them about 6 years and they still had my info on their system. A pleasure to deal with

We always use Caravan Guard - can't remember last quote but it was competitive.

We were with LV they were good and covered Morocco fully comp. But they have stopped insuring motorhomes.
Got a quote from comfort £725 , caravan and motorhome club quote was £1100 but on telling them the quote from comfort said they would do it for £700. So a £400 reduction just like that.
I'd be very reluctant to give my business to a firm who could reduce a quote from £1100 to £700. Basically they were going to steal £400. How is that not criminal?
Maybe if you did a video call you'd be able to see the balaclava and swag bag they have.

I'm constantly amazed by the huge variations in premiums, especially if you use comparison sites, I just wish that the insurance industry would show the cost from the actual insurance company and then the brokers premium so that we can compare like for like but perhaps that is just wishful thinking!

Comfort last year 6k mile limit with breakdown cover £499.60 Same cover this year £534.40 Caravan Guard wanted £670!!

Unless you do a lot of miles then paying for unlimited mileage hikes the premium unnecessarily. I've upped ours this year from 6000 to 8000 miles as we were only 50 miles below due to using it to go back and forth to our lodges* whilst doing them up (*about 200 miles). We also didn't go as far south in Spain as we usually do so we don't want to risk being over the limit this year although there isn't a penalty if only by a small amount.

With Comfort there was no premium increase for me.........maybe I just got lucky.

Maybe no increase but you may have got a decrease if you set a mileage figure rather than unlimited.

The quote from them was for up to 8000 miles. I asked about unlimited. They said no change. No brainer. I like to not have to worry about the miles.

Danced around a lot this year and have finally taken a new policy with AIB. A bit of too and fro-ing on price and it is more than my Comfort renewal, but I just had this niggling doubt about their European breakdown with a funster left stranded. Who knows if it's the correct decision, but I've increased the mileage and it's much better windscreen cover so all relative.

Car insurance is currently £370, informed it will be going up to £490 next year. Aviva were unable to explain why other than socio economic factors inform pricing. Cancelled and went to Sainsbury Bank, noticed the £360 quote included £40 something fee to them for putting me through to AXA so went to AXA direct for quote. Exactly same details came back at £610, so took AXA through Sainsbury for £250 cheaper than AXA would do it themselves. Hard to make sense of it.

What windscreen cover have AIB provided?

What windscreen cover have AIB provided?
Unlimited £100 excess full windscreen & £25 a repair

Comfort do actually have decent windscreen cover I think but its more the breakdown that gave me doubts.
