Sorry if this is covering old ground. I'm considering fitting a refillable gas system, but being based on the Surrey/Kent border we seem to be very poorly served with LPG outlets. The nearest seems to be in Crawley West Sussex which is 20ish miles away. Where do South based Funsters buy their LPG currently, particularly in the Surrey Sussex Kent triangle?
Many thanks
Sean

SeanF1 If you Google myLPG. You will find a free app that shows most refill stations 😊

If you spend any time in Europe you will have no problems. Fill up before you come home

Yes we in Surrey do not have many options left these days, especially as all The Morrisons both new and old branches have no LPG pumps ,but there are many more "Up North" the only one that I know that is not near us even, is Morrisons down near Littlehampton, Hawthorne Road.
In my part of SE Surrey, I only have The Shell garage with Flogas Pump, off at Jnc 4A, M3 Farnborough/Fleet, or The main M3 Fleet Services which I know exists but have never used.
We have to use the unreliable LPG maps on our mobile phone, to plan a re-fill en route to somewhere in the van, but always try a call them 1st, as they may have either removed their LPG pumps, or are awaiting an LPG delivery, or the pump is out of action, as was the case the last time we visited the Co Op garage on The A147 at Cirencester en-route towards Gloucester.

There is also a couple on The A303 that we use en-route either going, or coming home, when we have been down towards the SW.

Its always a great relief when an LPG pump is found and is working down here these days.
Good luck, hope that helps.

As advised best to look on the LPG apps but on the route / area your going to rather than around your home location perhaps.

There is one in Cranbrook Kent but that is a long way from you. It is about 9 mile's from us and I think I have used it once perhaps twice in 5 years ( their pump is unreliable ) my point is I fill up when travelling so not a problem.

I wrote to Morrison's this week as we are between 2 and a real pain if there is no gas. By going through their site you can ask when items will be in store and they came back with a phone number to call and check before going. Don't know if it will work when needed but better option than going in hope.

WE are OK down near Brighton, peterc10 is near Sevenoaks so probably near you he should know.
We live in Tunbridge Wells and lost our nearest LPG filling station in Tonbridge a couple of years ago. Truth is we rarely used it as we just used to fill up on our journeys. Last fill up was on a service area on the M4 a few miles from Bristol. We will just fill up again when we need to by using the fillLPG app.

Polegate services and Lower Dicker near Hailsham

There is a brand new installation at the Texaco on the A24 roundabout between Dorking and Leatherhead if that works for you.

'20ish' miles away LOL, when we lived in Manchester, 20 miles was a hell of a long way to drive to get something you needed. now we are in North Essex '20ish' miles is the norm !!

It is unfortunately hit or miss, more often miss, if the stations that claim to do LPG actually do have it, and also a working pump, in the Surrey area. It's become a vicious circle, no working LPG pump means people don't drive vehicles that use it, means no demand, means no working pumps. The various apps are inevitably out dated. Filllpg seems to be about the best but is painfully slow to load it's maps.

Nearest to me the Shell Addlestone close to M25 J11, Sainsburys Cobham, close to A3 are both very unreliable for working pumps. For a number of months the Shell even turned their signage off it looked like they had thrown in the towel, and it was still out of order for the best part of the last 6 months. Most reliable I have found is the M3 services Fleet which fortunately hasn't seemed an excessive mark up on prices, unlike standard petrol or diesel.

Fill lpg does currently show Addlestone, Cobham and Texaco leatherhead area all out of service :(

Unfortunately in the UK at least it seems LPG is going to become less and less available. It will be back to bottled gas (no space for that in my van), or alternatively I'll have to find a way to add a much larger underslung tank so I can go much longer between fills with a hope that whilst out and about there is a chance of coming across somewhere with it.

Long way from you, but when in the South West, from Bawdrip Garage.... lovely little family garage..... or Sainsbury's in Taunton..... very helpful staff.

TinaL had to use the Fleet one recently which is 30 miles away and with it being on a motorway I was fully expecting to get fleeced but there is no choice round here. I was pleasantly surprised to find it at 69 p a litre. My next nearest one is Southampton which is 40+ miles away !

However, with travelling on again this year, should you be coming back via Belgium, I know this place right on the French border and here is a post from 2020 which is worth putting into your sat nav

50.607982, 3.278476 Co ordinates for lpg just off the motorway around tournai just in belgium The reason for telling you is 28.2 cents a litre

Sittingbourne Morrison‘s has gas pumps there was some at services on m2 but that was a few years ago haven’t been in for a couple of years

I'm confused is there a difference in Portugal?
Portugal 95 - 100% propane same as UK. Other counties vary but up to 65% butane/35% propane, in Spain 55% butane in France, varies over time of year.
You don't want to be coming back to the UK in winter with over 50% butane in your tanks.

I had a bit of trouble with the nozzle and whilst fiddling they came out to investigate and chased me off.

As I often state it is worth asking a local taxi driver if they are running on LPG as often they are, and have access to LPG from an Industrial site as some forklifts are also LPG.
In my local town Sudbury in Suffolk the only LPG is at a very small car service garage at the far corner of a small industrial site this is where all the local taxis fill up from, and a few motorhome owners who knows it is there.

I was going to post that there are other sources than filling station forecourts, which I think is all that the Apps list.

Another source are LPG vehicle engine converters. They usually sell LPG, at least the one round the corner here in Poland does. Even if they don't they would not want to send a customer away with a new conversion without telling him where he could fill.

I find the MyLPG.eu app on the phone is the most accurate.

As others have said, it's not important if the nearest one to you is 20 miles away, all you need to do is find somewhere on route to where you are going.

If you currently have two bottles, you could do as we have done, and have one calor and one gaslow.
We have not used the calor since we had the gaslow fitted, so at some point I'll swap it for another gaslow bottle

Filllpg shows Flogas Keysites eg Bridgwater and at least some oil depots eg Johnstons Oils near Melrose.

Not my experience, it has let me down twice in the UK. When I was in Devon it was showing one filling station as having no supply for days after it was re-supplied, despite my efforts of reporting the current situation. It may be the better in Europe. Filllpg every time for me in the UK, it has never let me down.
