Hi Funsters
We want to find a couple of campsites to stay at for four or five days in October.
We’re looking at La Rochelle/Biarritz region and possibly over the border in Spain/San Sebastian area (but we are very flexible)
Has anyone found any good sites that are open at this time of year? If so, please let me know
Many thanks!
Graham

You have high hopes most sites in those areas close end of August/mid September. I think you will have to make do with Aires or wild.

We love San Sebastian/Donestia and have visited a few times. We always stay at Camping Igueldo its an ACSI site open all year and a bus outside to take you into town.

If you decide to go, follow the route on their website or PM me for details. The sat nav may try to take you a more "direct route" that takes no account of the vertical plane

We have just spent 3 nights at Camping Orio, about 30k east of San Sebastián. ACSI site open until November. Easy walk to train station for San Sebastián.

I’ve been through the ACSI and Caravan Club books and highlighted sites open in Oct half term. A bit of a pain but it gives us options ...

I’ll go with Orio Kanpina. Well maintained site with good facilities and excellent staff. Grassy site, wellies will come in handy ?

Today has been glorious, bright sunshine and 23C with the same forecasted for tomorrow. :)However it doesn't last at this time of the year as rain on Tuesday and Wednesday:confused: Then who believes the weather forecasts:D

Check out the forecast for El Templo del Sol, just south of Tarragona - just over 300 miles from Arna via the A22. Site is open until the end of October. We're on our way there in the next day or to.

And looks like the sun should continue to shine... :)

Have you been before Mike as we've heard some unfavorable reports? Our choice in Spain is El Portus which is where spring next year will be spent :)

Just left Camping Orio today. Good site, pitches a bit tight but that is Spain. Great beach, bring your body board and wet suit! Open till mid November. 20 Euro at ACSI rate but check that it is applicable.

Good train link to San Sebastian as well.

We've been once before to El Templo - about 13 years ago! Stayed in a chalet there then.

Beautiful site and location - beach is stunning - one of the best in mainland Spain IMHO.

I recall we had a slightly mixed reception from the staff, but overall not an issue and we're happy to return. Indeed, very much looking forward to it.

We're en route to Alicante, where the van will be garaged for winter. We'll then fly backwards and forwards to use it. El Portus is about 90 minutes away, so we'll be returning there a few times no doubt, and weather permitting. We shall also spend time in Almeria. Camping Cuevas Mar, next to Vera Playa, has a pleasant enough naturist section we stay at quite a lot.

Just be aware that Camping Orio doesn't accept dogs in the ACSI time periods. Not sure about high season.
