enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
Hi, we normally stop at Montreuil sur Mer for our first night in France (heading towards the Vendee) but are looking to try and find another one, preferably closer to Rouen and along the A28 route without too much of a detour.

can anyone recommend a one night stopover please - not too bothered about facilities, though somewhere to empty the waste etc would be helpful

Hi , parking only CC 14060, about 1 kilometer from A28
not used it but looks ok

Search for sites shows at least three in/near Rouen, Camper Contact shows about four.

Park4night shows many more.

We've stayed at the one at Etoutteville. It's more off the A29 rather than the A28 but we just went the other way around Rouen to as it suited to where we were headed. It's free as is waste disposal.

Last year we was looking for somewhere near to Rouen but the reviews were not very good, looked a little further out and found Montville (CC1313). Free aire with dump and water, in the middle of a small town close to small lake and sports centre. Free WiFi on the aire (y)

Cheers

thanks, we actually stayed there on the way home last year and very nice it was! (assuming its the one where they were doing a lot of digging - about 25% of the parking area wasn't available, so a couple of French vans decided to park on the sports centre car park, without any issues that we saw.)

there were lots of signs 'en route' stating issues re low bridges but we didn't encounter any !

La Mailleraye-sur-Seine takes a lot of beating - but it's not free. Worth the money though

Le Crotoy- It’s our first stop on the way over, but not sure how close you want to be to Rouen, and it’s not free - so no help at all really .... sorry :D

Think I’d go to Honfleur a little bit different route but lovely place to stop you can pay at the machine, avoid Rouen altogether.

Can anyone tell me if you need a Crit-air cert to travel through Rouen via the motorway please

We have also stayed there a couple of times as we have friends in Rouen who drive out to see us. The aire is in the middle of a small town so facilities available. Good overnighter.

Go to green zones website this updates daily on emission zones all over france

Thanks
I just cannot downsize my v5 to apply for a crit-air cert I have an apple iPad that’s all

Pont de L'Arche is east of Rouen. Stayed last year for 2 nights in July due to too hot to move! Cost €5 per night and pay at Municipal site alongside. (if open!)
Note water, but €2 or so on card, dumping free of course. If you visit, turn left at lights and left at bottom of hill, do not follow sat nav as it TRIES to take you through the town.

There is a quiet little aire next to camping Aux Cygnes d' Opale on the D49E off junction 5 of A28 not far from Rouen.
Nice little site with a bar and restaurant behind the aires. If open, . Blangy-sur Bresle is a nice town on the other side A28.
Also Pont de l' Arche other side of Rouen is a nice stop.
Heading down I always take a very sharp left as Exiting the tunnel and head down the D6015 to the east of the river, always quiet and miss Rouen totally.

According to the Green Zones app, there are no Zones around Rouen.

Thanks, sorry to be thick but are the green zones allied to the crit-air ?

Yes, the Crit-air sticker allows (or not) one to travel within the zones, there is a website that tells which colour stickers are permitted.
As does the Green Zones app.

In reality even our 2014 Inca is allowed everywhere except Central Paris.

The app is very good, once you get your various stickers with the allocated number and colour, you enter them in the app settings, and it automatically calculates whether or not you are permitted in the zones.

Most of the German ones are no go areas for us, but not really a problem.

Just off A28 East of Rouen

Get yourself Campercontact or Camperstop and have a search for aires. Many have reviews from users and details of costs and facilities. You could mix and match a few aires instead of going to the same one everytime. There are loads in the area around Rouen.
And you don’t need to worry about a Crit’air sticker unless you are going to the centres of Paris, Toulouse, Bordeaux Grenoble and a couple more of the larger cities

That’s the one I meant ! We stayed there last week - a lovely Aires.

Last time we stayed it was free, did you have to pay Ger? There seemed to be some semi official spaces by the camp site entrance, we parked on the general car park

Or is the camp site now the aire?

The Pont de l,Arche aire was revamped a couple of years ago and moved to the area next to the campsite and a fee introduced.
There used to be problems with travellers taking over the old moho parking area quite regularly. Its now just a car park.

Hi David. We didn’t have to pay. The couple who’s stay there every year told us that if the campsite is closed (which it is in the winter) then you don’t pay.

They also told us the town is where the founder member of the Gilet Jaune movement lives - they were a mine of information!

Love to you both, and look forward to meeting up soon x

Found a lovely little one at Campigny, just off the non toll route from Rouen to Caen, about 45 mins past Rouen. Free, water and waste disposal and has a little box for contributions. Looks a lovely quiet village. Theres a few cars going past but its not late so hopefully will be quiet and peaceful, so long as the church bells dont start in the morning !! Will post some pics tomorrow
