Hello everyone.

We full time in our MH and are off to Spain via ferry soon, then morocco for the winter back up through Spain to France and back via Euro Tunnel - to arrive in the UK April 30 next year.

I am a fab researcher and pretty good with google, however, I am having a lot of difficultly finding a realistic travel insurance quote for anything south of 1500 quid. We have our GHIC cards which is okay, however, I wanted the extra peace of mind.. but that amount is bloody crazy.

Any ideas?

Did any of you simply not bother?

For clarification: we have both had both sets of covid jabs, are fully insured, have breakdown and green card :)

I used to be in the not bother camp but I was reading a thread in the last couple of days that said your own insurance on top of the GHIC is mandatory now in some EU countries.

Jesus that's rough. The wife and I , worldwide multirip cover with Nationwide Flexi Plus. £304.72. That includes age extention medical history and 106 day cover. ( that means multiple trips of 106 days). Nothing else comes remotely close in the UK. Give them a ring and see for yourself. You now owe me drink.

Never ever had any travel insurance when motorhoming all over Europe for decades.

Did get medical insurance when visiting the US though.

In the days of EHIC and ADAC's emergency repatriation facility we toured Europe and felt 'covered'; post ADAC we 'didn't bother' a trip but then met someone who ended up stuck in hospital for months in Spain after being run over . (today that would 'burn your days up'!)... another who had a stroke and had no medivac .... ..Changes the outlook. We now take the 'Nationwide Flex plus' option which also gives us full breakdown and recovery for the van -( early 2020 we had to use it and it was all handled very well) . As world 'nomads' in the past we used a company that specialises in folks that sail ... too old for them now! Looking at renewing the van insurance I noticed just now that 'Adrian Flux' mention doing 'individual quotes' for specialised insurance so may be worth a try for anything else

It seems you are going for maybe 9 months.
I'm not sure you can extend Nationwide flex account insurance for that long. We have extended it a few times to 6 moths ( at an extra cost of about £160) but never tried for longer.

GHIC won't help in Morocco.

How do you intend to get to Morocco?
