LFD90 batteries aren't gelOk I'm in the market for two new batteries. At the moment I have two hankook 130ah each now 5 years old and had some abuse with the inverter. I have 250watt of solar. Should I stick with them or would two LFD 90 gel batteries be better for off grid camping?
Gulp I have just had a look at the Exide 80ah gels coming in at £165.If you're keeping the van a while go for Exide (or equiv) 80ah gel batteries![]()

Personally if you've had 5 years I'd say that was pretty good value so go with the same. I've never had 5 years out of any leisure batteries - mind you I've only ever had one motorhome out of the 18 we've had more than 5 years!Ok I'm in the market for two new batteries. The battery only has to last from dusk to dawn then. The 250w panel will soon wallop it back in when the sun gets up.I have 250 watt of solar
If you're using an inverter, I think gels are the least suitable of all the lead-acid variants. They don't like amps greater than 20% of Amp-hour capacity.I have two hankook 130ah each now 5 years old and had some abuse with the inverter.
