What warranty would you expect on leisure batteries on a used Motorhome costing over a 100k
These are Excide gels
I did contact the dealers to be told they are not covered

If its a new van they should be covered for the first year.
Unusual for Gels to fail unless they have been miss treated, have both gone or just one?

Depends on the age of the motorhome / batteries as an example we bought ours piote and were informed new batteries were fitted, so then i would look at the battery warranty mine (for the time being before lifepo4 fiited) is banner so they have a two year warranty, other makes have 1,2,3 years

I'm not sure it matters whether the dealer says the batteries are covered by the warranty or not, if it's a recent purchase it has to be fit for purpose and if the batteries are shot then it is not. If you can give more details about how long you've had it etc. Perhaps someone can advise you further.

The van is 2018 one over heated back when we were at Pershore no the other one has gone the same way rotten eggs, I still have 2 gels fitted as I added 2 more when we got the van in December

2018 we bought it in December 👍 it had been stood for a long time at the dealers in Doncaster so i am assume the batteries have been left flat at sometime

So did the dealer fix why the battery got hot? And if they did they should have changed the battery at the same time.

Do you mean you bought it in December 2018 or it's a 2018 model and you purchased it December 2020?

They could have been left flat at the dealers for a long period. I would also check the charger is working correctly and on the right settings. Often on s/h vans the dealer won't cover the batteries but you would would expect the van to be fit for purpose under the sale of goods act.

No they said they weren’t under any warranty, so I just removed it,
If there was a charging issue would it not boil all of the leisure batteries?

I am monitoring the charger for time and voltage now

I would have thought so, perhaps that battery was faulty, you could try contacting exide directly perhaps and explain what's happened you never know what they might say.

From personal experience I would expect gels to last 10years or more.
But if they have been mistreated before your ownership then who knows, think you are just going to have to suck it up and buy some replacements unless exide are feeling magnanimous.
You are checking the charger which is the same thing I would be looking at.
Good luck with getting it resolved.
