I’ve just had 2 100w solar panels fitted to my MH and a 1000W inverter. I feel that perhaps I’m lacking a bit now on leisure battery power (have one 110AH battery which is about year old) I was going to add another one but I was told that I should wait for the first one to give up and fit 2 of the exact same make and AH otherwise the new one will only last as long as the old one as it will be comoensating for having an older battery or something. Does anyone know if this is the case. I’m about to go off on a long trip and with my new solar panels and inverter don’t want the 110ah existing battery to be the weakest link.

With an inverter a single battery will always be the weak link.
At a year old it isn't bad providing it hasn't been abused and over discharged I would simply add another.

I would say it depends what is on now, if its a good battery I would add another the same but if its not that good I would just start again and put two really good batteries on, your inverter will know the difference even if you don't.
