I have a IH 630 RL 4 years old. I have just bought new leisure battery for van but have no idea how to get old battery our or new one in, I have taken all cupboard out and door off, but it sits just below at floor level. Can anyone advise me the best way to do it. Battery weighs 46kg. thank you in advance

I have put this on top tips also in case anyone else can advise

One of the reasons that most big leisure batteries aren't bigger than 110 amp-hours is that they weigh nearly 30kg which is about the limit for most non-gorillas to heave in and out of restricted space. Maybe get a couple of webbing loops around it. Be careful using anything metal near it, to avoid shorting the terminals

@tinkerbell give IH a bell might be the best idea, they put it in there (y)

Hint, might be worth updating your profile it say you have a Burstner A Class makes it confusing when talking about an IH.

Location too? In case a Gorilla Funster is nearby and can heave it out.

I used to have a lifting strap for my Trojan batteries.

Hi, almost had the same issue myself last week when was going to swap battery for a lithium. When I saw how tight the fit was with cabling neatly on top, I thought, how the hell would I ever lift this Out Myself!!
A bit like changing a wheel, which i’ll Leave to the recovery agent i’ll definitely leave the replacement of the battery to a professional!
Agree, I’d phone Carol at IH for advice, if possible I’d take it back there for replacement.
Bill

Ps
For other IH owners could you please advise what type of battery you have fitted?

Found a strong young man, swapped with hubby in 5 mins, b....y heavy thing. Gorilla strength is required. It’s a 12V 160AH Leoch Adventurer AGM Leisure Battery (LAGM160) which is what IH now use in their vans. The delivery guy said no way does this weigh 25 kilos as said on del slip, it didn’t.
Thanks for advice everyone. Hope this helps others.

I changed my 125Ah batteries for 110Ah ones for this reason as I could barely lift the bigger ones with one hand in a restricted space. At least the Numax ones which I now use have a decent handle on top

I thought they put in 140Ah gel batteries. As ours will be 4 years old this year, I really hope I don’t have to change it soon
