Hi Everyone

Just swapped two lead acid batteries over to 2X Gel. Switched the charger over to gel setting and all seemed to be good.
However just checked the cab battery and that now seems to be losing charge!

Any ideas as to what’s happed here?

I have solar and a battery master.

Thanks for any advise👍

I would expect a small discharge from the cab batter, which could be an amp or more depending on what stereo system you have and how it’s connected electrically

Ok I think I’ll stick it on EHU overnight and see how it is tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice👍

What are you using as an indicator that your cab battery is losing charge?
Hi I have an app on my phone linked to the tracker which is normally pretty accurate.
I’ll stick it on EHU and see how it looks later.

Thanks

Did you replace the previous batteries because of the same issue (which is perhaps still the problem)?

Did you disconnect the solar panels from the controller before disconnecting and reconnecting the hab batteries?
If not the solar controller may need a look at.
It’s important to have the batteries connected prior to connecting to the panels.

Pretty sure I did and I covered the panel so hope all will be good👍
I’ll leave it on EHU for the rest of the day unplug and see how things are currently cab battery showing 13.8v
Thanks for the help.

Hi
No the batteries were 5 years old and 1 was knackered so replaced both with gel.
Thanks for posting👍

That 13.8v is the charger/solar voltage....it would still show that without a battery connected.
To get a true voltage unplug HU and disconnect solar then leave an hour and check voltage once it's stabilised.

Or attend a Motorhome Fun Rally especially when Lenny is in attendance doing a battery talk.
We host a few rallies here at Woodside Field always knowledgeable people to talk too, and only a few miles away from you.
