So while off grid the other night I was playing with my (main power panel) and I noticed that my little awning light was pulling about 2amps 😬

It’s just a little crappy bulb that does hardly anything light wise other than show you where the door is. Certainly no useful sitting out at night light. Oh and it gets really really hot.

So I want to replace it with an efficient LED one. But which one?
Amazon search seems to bring up adverts like brighter than the sun bragging ☀️

I want it to be a light not a search light.

Anyone know what sort of Lumens I need to be aiming for?

It’s also a bit black inside. Pretty sure it was gonna go pop soon anyway.

I normally just look on the bulb to see what it says and get the LED equivalent.

The original is probably just a 382 21w indicator bulb, I would try Aten lighting, they have several options depending on how much space there is in the fitting

I think yours will have a single contact on the bottom. A low powered LED is this. The ones in your picture are a combined Brake/Tail light which is a 15d not a 15s

For things like I’ve got cool white bulbs , I think my G4 bulbs are around 140lumens

Also wanting to replace the internal spots in the living area. They are 400lumins which seem about twice too bright. I have spun them round to face the walls as way too bright facing out.

Issue is B&Q only do a 345lumins one which I suspect is too bright also. And the ones at 250lumins on Amazon I find have bad reviews. A couple from motorhomers saying they created static on the radio / tv when turned on

They are MR16’s currently at 5W LED

You may like to consider these. If you are using a halogen 12v convertor then this may cause interference if used below its minimum rating.

A who and a what now?

The current bulbs are LED ones. They work but are just too bright. I have just slipped one out to get the size details etc. I have no idea what is further along the wiring. I suspect nothing. Do I need to do something else?

No sorry, I initially mis-read and thought you were using them in your home, that would have meant a 230ac to 12vdc transformer rectifier was needed. You do not need anything else, the ones I have posted are dimmable using the provided remote, the price is for four and four remotes. You will only need 1 remote for all the lights

Sweet, ordered them. Ideally I need 5 for the van but I’ll try 4 to begin with and leave 1 as is for now and see if I need to get another pack after next trip. Ordered awning light too and a couple of M11’s that are spots in cab area too that are just way to bright. Currently with all bulbs on it’s like sitting in the sun in there. Not to mention the unnecessary power drain

Just removed the bulb from our awning/outside light, it's like a glow worm! Is there an LED alternative (screw-fit)?

Another shout out for Aten lighting. All our lights have been changed to led from them as their products are 8-30 volts because remember your mohos don’t run at 12v all the time. Ours right now is on anti sulphate mode sat at 14.3v.
