On and off for many years.
Thank you so much to all the people who have made poppies for me ....... there was a huge bag from @icantremember but he couldn't remember who had made them, although there was a note from @Hils and Glenns. Plus there was another bag of bags of poppies from @movan and at least three other people (and again the person who gave them to me could not remember who had passed them on).

I am sure I have more than my 1,000 now (but more are alwasy welcome as I will be doing more for a 2019 event).

We are home for a few days before Dumfries as the electric people are replacing cables and need access to the house :)

Glad the poppies got to you Helen .. we just piled them all onto Brian and said it didn't matter if they get muddled ...

Hope you have some help sewing them on to the gauze... x

I need to count how many I did over the weekend and deduct from the total.

I rather think the sewing will be up to me - but I do have a tagging gun if I need to cheat :)

One of my jobs tomorrow is to go and look at the memorial to see how / where I can put the crown. Martin is suggesting individual strings of poppies rather than a single sheet due to heavy weight of a single sheet.

Isn't there someone else who was asking for poppies as well?

With a little practice you too can make squares :D

These are sooo easy to make. Easier than the poppies, imo, 'cos there's no counting of stitches

Hello all,
Haven’t been on for a while, I found this lovely piece of cotton fabric in my stash, I bought it as I liked it but I haven’t been able to work out what to do with it but I am now cutting it out to make a little girls skirt.

Thank you Paul and Kate .. fine at the moment .. I posted some to Puddleduck yesterday and phoned SueTayBon to say I had some to deliver to her in person this week.

I am working out how to deliver some to Pauline ... not so good news from hospital this week so going South delayed.

How are the wool supplies going
@movan @Debs @Ambilkate @Carol
Hi I'm still using the black & red balls that you gave and we shared with others at old Mo's Kate. . I've had a few balls of Irene (tonka) plus a few I brought myself from B&m. Kate were did you or your work colleagues get the red wool with the silverish thread in from? I've used the ball I had it croched up lovely for the poppies but would love to get some for a project I have in mind .
Helen @Puddleduck how many more poppies are needed just for your area display please?

Hi Pam @snailtrailer, I want to thankyou so much for starting this thread. I hadn't crocheted for Many a year I never really got the time once my children came along with having to juggle family life, work, Amanda plus my brother & father's illness I never had a bit of time for me.
This thread came at a time when I needed to think about me for a change I found reading everyone's posts on here such an uplift ment. At first for me it was about the challenge of I can crochet, I bet I could master making those poppies, once I picked up that hook there was no going back lol. Over the last 10wks I've had quite a a bit of a health scare, picking up the hook and just concentrating on those poppies saved me worrying about me I knew my health scare was still there but it was at the back of my mind, i found it very very therapeutic. . I'm still hooked on the poppies but are starting to play around with other things I've yet to look at the pattern of Dillie the dragon. I must have a go if I'm going to have him done for Christmas. I'm loving this thread & seeing what other Funster craft girls are up to. Amanda is loving playing with all her flowers and poppies, my health scare has down scaled from a mountain to medium sized hill which I can cope with thank god.
So thankyou Pam and all of you on this thread I wouldn't have even thought of picking up my hook again without you all x
Kate

Kate wait until you see what @SueTayBon is making now. She is brilliant. I'm not telling you as I am sure she will photograph it once finished. It's booootiful.

The pattern for this was a nightmare to follow and contained mistakes. I definitely would NOT recommend the Aldi crochet kits. It’s a good job I like puzzles and was prepared to improvise and get this result :)

Mini skirt making all morning here for a little girl, it’s nice using a bit of the fabric stash and haberdashery stocks (and now I can buy some more), 50p for size comparison.

I have in excess of my thousand now - thank you all so very much.

Who else needs poppies or flowers so I can make and send them on.

@Ambilkate I am experimenting with 3D flowers a bit like Irish Crochet if Amanda would like those (I would probably rip them out again so it would be nice to see them put on hair bands or something) - I can post any I make on.

Does this mean we are not to send you any more poppies?

I am still more than happy to have more but I thought someone else also needed them????? Happy to be wrong though as I can use as many as people are good enough to make but don't want to take poppies needed elsewhere :)

I will be starting to sew onto netting in the next couple of weeks, a month ahead of where I thought I would be :) :) :)

That is gorgeous.

I have also finished all the squares for my blanket, one still to block and then I have to sew in any ends I missed and think about putting to together. 64 squares so it could be an 8x8 or 9x7 with the extra used as a cushion.

Have you heard of Bavarian Crochet? Looks interesting but I have enough to do at the moment.

Mum was querying why I hadn't started a pattern for a throw she'd sent me :D.

I've only got this far with my purple and blue one for the camper bed
