Anybody had any dealing with KS Energy, re lithium batteries? What did you think of them etc etc.

Hi Collyboy.. yes I started a thread 2 weeks ago on this subject but apparently KS Energy are the new kids on the block so limited response from funsters.
However I have bit bullet and ordered and have fitted 2x 120 ah batteries. Obviously to early to comment on quality and life span of batteries HOWEVER Neal of KS Energy responded to my emails by return and batteries arrived within 2 days as promised. Absolutely recommend them.

Hi. How have the batteries fared since you installed them and did you make any changes to the charging system?
Thanks.

hello again Collyboy..thought this thread was dead. Obviously still early days BUT spent 5 nights high up on North Yorkshire moors over New Year. Heating (truma combi 4e). on all day but off at night...Even at minus 2o gets too warm in our wee van. Last night thought we would go for it and had 5 hours avtex tv. Batteries still at 65% when we got home...Well impressed. Our old 160ah Leoch 160 would have struggled after three nights and i would not even dream of getting tv out.
Charging??? We very rarely use EHU sites so have not really made any changes. I have never used onboard chargers even for LA batteries even if on hook up but preferred to really on quality stand alone charger and solar with a votronic mppt charger. Charge from engine minimal (smart alternator) so nothing from that but we tend to stay in one place for a number of nights and not spend our days driving around. So no plans to fit B2B
So in essence...Batteries seem to be far superior to any battery i have had in the past. Charge with appropriate mains charger before leaving..allow solar to top up and if you do run out find a site for one night and plug in your mains charger.. good to go.
Simples..

I have been watching all LB threads with interest. Currently our Hymer t-588 has 2*100ah LBs and when the time is right I'll swap them out for Lithium. I'm keen to use KS as they claim to be a drop in alternative so I emailed Udo at Schaudt for his advice and this was his response:

Dear Ss,

thank you for your mail.

As I know the Lithiumbattery type is possible to charge with the setting Gel at the EBL.

The battery will need a permanent voltage level of 14,4V.

The best woud be to ask the battery producer if the setting Gel at the EBL is ok. If there is a need for any additional charger, you can mount the charger directly to the leisura battery poles.

Please ask the battery producer if the battery will take high currents from the alternator when the battery is on very low voltage level. If so I would mount the WA 121525 in the wire of the EBL (back side) to have a booster with a setting Lithium and further to restrict the current to 25A max. (The booster will be set to Lithium battery type and the temperature compensation will be switeched off for the Lithium battery tpye.)

This seems pretty conclusive that my battery swap can be achieved with minimum modification while using the same charger.
Any thoughts on this please?
