Just had a cost for a new Iveco 4x4 7 ton chassis cab. For avoidance of any doubt this is a bare chassis, does not include any form of motorhome body shell, fittings, electrical, batteries, gas, furniture etc.

Including a substantial discount and an 14 month lead time £101,000 Inc vat.

That would be the IVECO daily I am guessing?

If you took off the 20% vat, I could, perhaps, understand. It's when the habitation bit is put on top and it doubles in price that I can't get my head around?

I wish, MAD quote £140k for a quality body fitted out.

My dream base vehicle, the Iveco Daily 4x4, one of the most capable off roaders.

Have you had a look at some of the German Daily 4x4 stuff if that's the way you want to go.
Yes, will be at Caravan Salon this year for a good look around.

About 6 months ago I priced up a Ducato high top with a suitable spec that you would want on a conversion came out around £64k inc., vat. I could have easily put another 10k of extras on it.

This seems to be a 4x4 with empty habitation shell, I didn't even realise this option was available.

It's by Leerkabine who make shells for expedition vans.

You don't have to go that big to be frightened by the price of a new base vehicle for a PVC.

A VW Crafter (or MAN TGE) LWB (6.8m) high roof with a decent specification will set you back at least £60k, probably more.

My 2014 Window Van, Mercedes Sprinter 7G-Tronic Auto is pushing £50,000 new

Yet trying to get any insurer to insure for a value over £10,000 is impossible. Despite the fact that anting second hand could be bought for that price.

I saw a 2019 Hymer Grand Canyon 4x4 on a Merc Chassis at £100K in Southdowns yesterday. That's a lot of dosh to drive through camel dung in Morocco.
Was going in for a browse yesterday and went down the Eastern Road about 12ish but unfortunately Mrs CC was driving and got in the wrong lane 🤬🤬
Never had much in when I went in a few months back🤔

Just a note on induction hobs. A friend of mine that had a pacemaker fitted said that she has to stay clear of them as it does something naughty to her device.

What amazes me is the price of some pretty basic PVC, how on earth they can justify the prices.

I think that is what he is talking about the ridiculously inflated base vehicle prices .
But obviously what commercial fleet and individual buyers are willing to pay for these vehicles.

Smacks of the same principals being applied by campsite owners prices here in the UK!!

When everything doubles in price, it's equivalent to our savings halving. Very depressing.

As a fellow pacemaker recipient I suggest you show your friend these articles. But the bottom line is ... keep the pacemaker at least 50 cm away and you'll be fine. Slightly further if it's a unipolar pacemaker. And don't keep hold of the pots while they're on the hob.
