it's 23:45, you've been drinking, and there's a knock on the door....

DON'T, drink and drive, It WILL spill!. These Posts IMV. are in the same category as "overkill". "Don`t worry, Be Happy". If some plod with a bad "menopause" want`s to Nick you?. Just shoot the barsteward.! I have parked up in Laybys and shared several "tinnys" with other drivers. You have 9 Hours to sleep it off!. Your in more trouble with the Traffic commissioners than Senor Plod!, (I did once get a Plod to sign the back of my Tacho though, he wanted me to move, as I said I am not actually causing obstruction, and the Tacho is on "rest"?).

I believe to be prosecuted for being in charge of a motor vehicle while over the limit the police need to prove "intent to drive".

Keys in a drawer, pyjamas on, drivers seat reversed (if it does), bed made up, mug of cocoa and TV blaring out....definate proof you have no "intention to drive"
It would be a real nasty bastard who 'proved' otherwise
If you are still told to sling yer hook after explaining you are pissed you are then acting on the instruction of an officer of the law and CANNOT be prosecuted.
A closed mate got away with a DD charge as he was told to move his car to a position of safety....and he had Independant  witnesses.
Any one asking or telling you to brake the law is guilty of a criminal offence
Bill

As said above you can get done for too must alcohol in your system on private land, I hit a small Fiat in Sainsbury's carpark and writ it off ( I was distracted as my young son was being sick in the back of the car, )and worse still there was 3 Italian women in the car shouting call the Police call the Ambulance ( turned out Mother had had a operation 3 years before ). anyhow Policeman said had I been drinking I said what if I had he said I can breatherlize you and you could lose your licence even on private ground , I said very sorry sir.!! car was bent in half !!

I’m paranoid as well
(Everyone is saying that behind my back, I just know it)

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you.

DUI although do recollect one who I waited half an hour for , he didn't disappoint , he obviously thought he was "safe" after 30 mins, wrong decision ! :)
If you are genuine , my colleagues had the same approach , when you see the frequent catastrophic results of drink driving , there isn't any sympathy if you make the wrong decision .
Why did you lay in wait instead of advising the driver that should he drink and drive he would be breathalised.? Surely then you are preventing vaccine rather than waiting for someone who you know,is about to?.if the warning is ignored then they deserve all they get.

I know you're not going to do it, but for example, a drunk could release the handbrake and coast downhill without the engine running, but still in control of steering, braking and propulsion (albeit gravity induced).
That's not a problem on any automatic as the inhibitor switch locks the gear lever in 'park' if the key is out of the ignition. I rarely bother to apply the handbrake - it's a good test of a level pitch!
