Hello there !

I have one of these aluminium coffee pots which you put on the gas ring with a serving of ground coffee and water. But it's corroded inside where the water goes. Anyone know how to easily remove the white furry aluminium corrosion

Thanks.

Yikes, that’s why I buy stainless steel ones .... you can even get a stainless one from IKEA ... Radig, I think, for about £20.

A long time now
Boil up a mixture of bleach and washing up liquid just a tiny bit then leave overnight then an abrasive pad vigourously scoured should remove all deposits then a good few rinses with fresh water :)

I have an aluminium one (Brabantia) and the first trip away in a boat it corroded and never looked the same again. You get get large stainless steel ones on the bay of E for not a lot. No problem with corrosion wherever you take them.

Just looked at the Ikea stainless espresso percolator
(dont know why some call it a machine as there is no motor:D)
Its about £20,but the claim it delivers "6 Cups" well they must be small cups even for espresso's, I like a mug myself, even then I have to have 2 brew ups.
As for cleaning the aluminum ones, I cleaned mine out after many years last week with some watered down Viakal, left overnight, its come up like new, but the red enamelled paint has been peeling off the outside from day one. Dishwasher probably caused that, but it works and I am happy, as is half of Europe:D
Hate the queue in Ikeas, so dont go to them anymore, helps if you know someone that is going anyway, then maybe they can get for you:whistle::D2

Les, we find the IKEA 3 cup one (discontinued) does 1 person, the 6 person does 2 but we add plenty of hot milk.

I hate IKEA and go when we’re passing as it’s a long way for us ...

Ikea do delivery on most stuff now - which I use as we don’t have one near us and I can’t abide going anyway.

Yeah, know what you mean - Swmbo always manages to persuade me though by the offer of their meatball dinner. For some reason, I really like them!
