I collected the new to me, 10 year old Swift Bessacar 410 yesterday and, by way of using a manual gearbox as against auto for 1st time in 20 years, and only stalled twice! Big big sweaty bit was reversing; 1st into my driveway off a very busy main road in the dark and then manoeuvring it into place without crashing through into the living room! Just need some fair weather (fat chance) in order to pack stuff away and get to play with all the buttons and switches explained yesterday and lost in memory morass at present. Then for the open road!

Brilliant , well done for getting home safely and enjoy planning your first trip away (or sleep on the drive).

Rock on with your travels, at first it can seem like steep but none the less exciting learning curve, and we are still learning with much help from the Funster team.
Dont worry about your reversing into the drive, you will soon have those gateposts widened:LOL:

How exciting good for you .
We lived in ours on the drive for 3 months well we had extension done it was great, going to b doing it again in 2 wks as having staircase relocated
Luv it :))

Good luck with your new van. It's often the tail swing going forward that catches people out especially where the street lamps are on the kerb.

You will get to know the van and things that you have forgotten to put in it if you sleep in it for a couple of nights. Plus all vans need christening ? warn the neighbors if the vans rocking don’t come knocking

Do not worry. We have been doing it For nearly 40 years. Still learning. We hope all goes well for you. See you in a field some where.

Oh good grief, not a name - please. We have friends who name their vehicles and machinery. First thing they said to us when we got our MH was 'what are you going to call it?' Does my head in...
I’ll forwArd on your comments to Belle . I’ll also tell the wife ;-)

Look forward to seeing it at Chester meet. Lots of places to explore in easy reach of you.
Enjoy

It gets better the more you use it.
Getting out, that feeling of freedom when you leave your house and that warmth when you have been out for the day and open the van door to realise you are home.

I remember the feeling! Well done, chill, and enjoy.

A big ditto get out there There is a big wide world waiting for you Enjoy every minute you are a long time dead

Welcome! We have the same van as you...same model, same year.....we love it! We have been to most of Western Europe over the past 3 years and are now planning our next trip to Croatia. We are usually away for 5 - 6 weeks at a time. We have fitted a few 'toys' and extras. You will eventually learn all you need to know, but if you need any advice at all, please don't hesitate to ask. Enjoy!

Thrill of a lifetime........enjoy!
