does anybody know is there any where at southampton docks to over night as we have to get the feryy to the iow early next morning any help appreciated

Yes, try post code SO15 1GZ, it’s a small industrial site just off West Quay road, arrive after 6pm and road almost clear, I worked there a quiet area at night and not a through road

how far is that from the port red funnel ferries i think but thanks for the reply

Don’t go over the Itchen toll bridge as you’ll be clattered with a heavy toll. Enjoy the South Island as us locals call the IOW

Itchen tolls depend on height at first axle - 2.39m is £1.40, over that it is £25 . . . Thing is, there are a few places to anchor up on the Woolston side of the bridge if you don't mind parking on the road.

do you know how we can get without going over the itchen toll bridge as i dont fancy paying £25 as TDub49 said any help appreciated

If coming down M3, simply follow the M27 (inside Lane) which I think is sign posted Docks / Bournemouth / West, pretty sure this will be the way Sat Nav will bring you, will also bring you along West Quay Rd, where you want to be, if taking my advice on parking, when you see IKEA, outside Lane and a filter light takes you into the small area

Yes, this. It's a bit counter intuitive as Southampton is right in front of you, but once past the services going west bound, take the M271 south and turn left at the bottom on to the A33. You can go straight on at the bottom of the M3 without touching the toll bridge, but it's a bit of a PITA through the City.

Be very very careful you get in right lane , it’s a confusing junction for out of towners , drivers realise they are in wrong lane and swerve across
