Hi everyone. I am looking to buy my first motorh9me (used). I've come across a dealer called Universal-motorhomes.com. They seem to have a lot of motorhomes for sale at great prices. My problem is that I cannot find their business on goole maps ot in the normal Google search results. The only place where they appear is in yhe Google ad's. Does anyone have any knowledge if this company? The address given on their website is located in Oxfordshire, has anyone bought from them?

I'm seeing the same but they are paying for Google AdSense which would make no sense, and their website is very professional and live! It's very odd

Possibly nothing more than a selling agency for private sellers
They will have buyers waiting to buy and sellers wanting to sell without the hastle of advertising

I've been worried that it may be some sort of scam. But, your comment makes sense! Hopefully that's the answer

This has to be a scam of some sort! I wouldn't part with my 2018 Bessacarr 596 with 5000 miles on the clock for less than 60k, but they have a 2019 596 with 3000 miles for under 30k!!! I've seen ebay/gumtree scams like this wanting you to secure the sale quickly by paying a deposit without viewing the van that doesn't exist!

This is a SCAM. They are using a dormant company number and address and are hoping for payments. Do NOT engage with them, they have been reported to Action Fraud

No it's in American Format as the registrar is USA based +1 code so 9th of November, 18 days ago

I never buy anything online unless i'm sure where the company is, with an address and UK phone number listed. You could progress with caution if there's a 'van you're particularly interested in, but be even more diligent that it isn't stolen, has all paperwork, can see it at the seller's address, and no money asked for in advance. But as Martin Lewis says, if it sounds too good to be true, then if probably is.

I was looking at Lincolnshire motorhomes and their site went down for maintenance. Then came across universal motorhomes with the exact same stock, prices and reference numbers as Lincolnshire motorhomes.
I would stay clear.

Well according to companies house.. they're dormant and have been since at least Dec 2018. The registered address doesn't look to be the location of the business. The office number for their 'German Dealership' is the UK one and I can't see a deanship in Germany either.

If you have any doubts, look else where.

Spot on and owners of websites can hide their actual identities from public scrutiny which is valid and it’s just the registrar showing.

Again that’s normal in terms of a registerd address could be an accountants or service address many miles away from an operating business.

That's very true.. My business is registered at my accountants address. However, it does seem odd that if you have things to sell you'd not publish the address where you could find the goods.

One of the directors is/has been involved with at least 16 ther companies, its all not worth a carrot

Another interesting observation. None of the images of the motorhomes/caravans seem to be taken at the premises.. they seem to be all random locations. So, as previous threads have suggested, I think they must be a 'selling agent', which would ring alarm bells immediately.

It’s a view but there are legitimate reasons for individuals to do so. If you run a private practice in mental health or may be your a small solicitor the company address is out there which may well be your accountants, your face to face address is out there but home details are not and to be honest should not be. Take this one further you sell goods on line it may be the accountants address a mail address and the shipping warehouse but personal addresses are hidden away all for legitimate reasons.
