On previous trips to France we have struggled to find tonic water in French supermarkets, they do t seem to have our taste for gin :whistle2:

Not been for a couple of years, have things changed, we will bring a few bottles of Aldi tonic, but hope things have changed

This trip is to France and Germany

Yes it's available, liddl etc but there is a charge of 25 cents per bottle which is refunded, when returned to the same supplier. Every glass and plastic bottle has a 25 cents deposit. Sometimes difficult to get your money back. So a pack of 4 tonics will set ypu back an extra euro. Not much in the realm if things but an odd bottle here and there soon adds up and increases the price of the gin I'f you can't redeem the deposits.
Cost me a few euros when we went into France with German bottles. lol.
Best to take your own, imho

We are fussy about our tonic, so usually Fevertree or Franklin & Sons. Most places in Europe you can find Schweppes, which we don't particularly like. We did find Fevertree in a few places in Spain, where gin culture is gaining ground. So we try to take a sizeable supply. We did consider taking a tonic concentrate to add to fizzy water, to cut down on weight/volume: Lakeland sells what looks like a feasible premium candidate (supposed to be used with Sodastream), but we haven't tried it yet, so cannot comment on the taste.

2 weeks ago I bought this 1.5ltr bottle from Geant Casino in St Tropez, it's their own brand so sure it will be in most of their stores (full fat also available) (y)

Thanks peeps, we are not too precious about brand, i don’t like some uk own brands but have found both Aldi and Lidl very acceptable

Now I am retired I will no longer spend as much on the tonic as the gin, then having also found the Aldi London gin to be very acceptable has lowered my spending levels on the tonic ?

I will report back from Germany next week ?

Fever Tree tonic in our local Leclerc and nearest Auchan as well as lots of smaller shops.
Schweppes available almost everywhere. Lidl and Aldi have their own brands and most other supermarkets in France sell tonic of some description.

Getting tonic is OK in France, usually get it in Lidl but quite difficult to get diet tonic which is our preference. Can't stand Fevertree, too much flavour and end up not tasting the gin.

Gin.... The Prossecco fad of the spirit world.
Quite a few years ago now we went on a hotel holiday to jesolo, and had never heard of prosecco, but they had their local brands on offer and we drank it all the week, and told people about it when we came back and no-one knew what we were on about, then suddenly it took off and it was the in drink, but we have never found any like that first lot over there and the price is crazy , it was little dearer than water in that hotel.

If going to Germany, there is a very good Bavarian gin called Granit. Unfortunately it costs about 30 euros -- still better than the £45 it costs here though.

We haven’t found zero calorie tonic in either Globus or Edeka supermarkets in Germany. Edeka sells a ‘dry’ tonic with about two thirds of the sugar but we have made do with zero sugar bitter lemon. We are at a place called Ladenburg at the moment and the Edeka here sells Fevertree at an eye watering price.

Globus at Zell is otherwise a good place to resupply along the Mosel. Gas, diesel, a great supermarket and washing machines in the smaller car park (not the one with big spaces for motorhomers and tuggers). You could even stay overnight as a last resort.

One tip to anyone using the Stellplatz sites in Germany - arrive early. Before midday is best where there is a limited number of pitches.
