Every now and again, I get a fault on the water pump whereby the pump seems to splutter or surge and pressure at hot or cold taps drops. When it does this, if any lights are on, they flicker in time with the spluttering. Shutting the tap off then back on again doesn't cure the problem; the only way I have found to stop it is to shut the water pump off at the control panel and then back on again after about 10 seconds. Then everything seems to operate normally.
Pump is Shurflo 4029-181-A32. 20 psi, 7.5 lpm.
Van is Autotrail Apache 2013, so pump (original) is 4 years old.
Does anyone have any ideas how to cure this please, or is a new pump on the cards?
Thanks, Chris

You might get away with just replacing the pressure switch assembly at the bottom of the pump rather than replace the whole thing. These are available on EBay etc if you Google pressure switch and your pump part no.

I had to replace the pressure switch on my pump in my 2010 Autotrail Savannah but the pump itself still works fine. My faulty pressure switch was due to corroded electrical contacts.

We get a similar 'stuttering' when we only have the tap (hot or cold) just open a little bit when I don't need full flow. I thought that this was because I hadn't opened the tap sufficiently to allow the pump to work at an operating pressure. @Ninovan is this similar to what yours does? (I don't get the flashing lights though).
If so I might now have to sort mine too. Any info on how you get on mending it gratefully received.
I have a 2012 Delaware so probably the same pump.
Cheers.

Flickering lights is simply caused by the pump switching on and off rapidly causing the system voltage to vary in time with it. I'd go with the failing pressure switch too.

I wonder if it could be due to low voltage. Does it happen while on EHU / What state are your batteries in?

Batteries are fine, 12.7-12.8, have solar. Not had a chance to see if it does it on ehu yet. Having said that, the pump would still be running off 12v. Not sure about pressure switch failing, as seems to be resolved when I shut off power to the pump then re-instate it after a few seconds. Bit like a re-boot. @Nik, symptoms are similar but any tap being used is fully open when & if it happens.
