I have noticed when I was away last week that sometimes the habitation door does not lock when I click the remote OR the internal lock switch.

Has worked
perfectly up until now.

It seems to unlock every time but sometimes will not lock , when it does not want to lock, nothing will make it, I have to enter through drivers door, lock it and then exit drivers door and lock the rest of the motorhome with the remote.

Any thoughts, likely to be an easy fix?

Best to get an engineer?

What seems to work in a lot of cases, certainly did for me, is to vigorously rub over the door contacts with white spirit or similar. You'll probably need to do it every so often. Another issue is a broken wire inside the door. Search the forum for several threads where the fix is described in detail.

For my hab door I found a microswitch inside that was actuated by the latch mechanism. The thin piece of bent metal that pushed it in to tell the van that the door was latched closed wasn't making good enough contact. I bent it a bit further around and it's been reliable ever since.

I often have to wipe the contacts between the door and slam panel when mine plays up. Clean the contacts and all good till next time.

Had the same problem and I havn't a clue about mechanisms. So I did the only 'solution' I could think of... I squirted WD40 into every crevice of the door lock and kept locing/unlocking it.

It worked!!!!

I've got a similar problem, working erratically until it finally won't work anymore and I'm using the manual system. Up to now a thorough dowsing of WD40, latterly graphic spray, did the trick but I'll now checkout those other points.

I do know that the spring holding the external handle has broken/is missing but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Have been thinking of replacing the lot of course but looks a fiddly (and expensive) job. O'Leary's?

You are not alone but I wish people would state which van they are talking about.
There are so many different vans and different door locks.
A specific year / model would be brilliant 😁
My van is a 2019 Burstner Lyseo - is owt like that?

If people put that info in their Avatar information it would avoid a lot of questions.

My contacts frequently need cleaning but they have marks on them that look like it has been sparking across. I clean them with a small piece of fine wet and dry paper but am concerned about how long that can go on for! Perhaps a smear of vaseline or similar would help but also attract / retain dirt.

Could be loose connection of wires behind the contacts. Mine was the wires are so fine its a wonder they work at all.

I did similar but used silicone spray and that worked

Sorry, should have stated Burstner 2016 Ixeo 745 Sovereign.

I will give it a good look over tomorrow.

I guess I will need to try and figure out how to take the door panel off!

Oh the joys of motor homing! :)

We have a Pilote 740 and had the same problem in Spain a few weeks ago, booked in to dealer service manager informed me that they had the same problem on a Adria and the fix is NOT to rub with wet and dry as the contact points are not s/steel only chrome plated and once it wears off it is expensive to replace them , the best way is to pack the plate that hold the contacts with a couple of small thin washers , up to now everything is OK 🤞 so I would try this fix first .

Agree about the wet and dry. In my case, as I mentioned above in post #2, all it needed was a brisk wipe over with white spirit. No damage and problem fixed.

Yes, I noticed that too and you have convinced me it is not a good idea.

Hmm, I was looking at the panel that covers my lock, runs from top of door to the bottom, but the only two screw covers I can see are right in the middle of the panel. I don’t see how two screw there would secure such a big panel.

I really don’t want to break anything but we will be living in the Motorhome for a few months from end of August and this is going to drive me to distraction.

maybe easier to get someone to look at at for me?

Mine was held with only a couple of screws. There was a bolt that held the handle on. Most of the panel was attached with push-pins that had to be carefully pried out.
