Hi all.
I need to insure the new van at £142,000. I found an insurance company that would either take into consideration your cars no claim bonus or being a named driver on a motorhome policy but I can’t remember who they were?
The problem is I’ve driven motor homes for 20 years but as my wife had a policy with full no claim bonus not being used we put her as the main driver and me as the second one, I want the new policy to be in my name only now as I’ve found out that most insurance companies will make the second named driver drive the van home should the first driver become I’ll on injured where as if ther is only one driver the insurance will pay for recovery and my wife does not want to drive the motor home anymore.

Thanks

Bump - any ideas of which company anyone?

Around the position of the policy being in the wife's name. I see the relevance about most insurance companies will make the second named driver drive the van home should the first driver become I’ll. So run this past. The policy is in the wife's name you are named driver. Now you become ill and your good lady does not want to drive. When you as the named driver notify the insurance company that you cannot drive is your wife with you. How does the insurance company know the lady is indeed your wife?. A small point if there was such an incident. Another question I would ask your present insurance company around this issue is, if by chance you as the named driver was on your own and was unable to drive does the policy cover the named driver so that another driver is supplied or is it the case that the policy holder is covered only.

From applying for a quote with Comfort insurance they did not seek any no claims history they just proceed cover.

Ive found that lots of companies will " take other forms of no claims " into account usually with favourable outcomes.
Always worth pushing it.

Don't know about your specific critera but Comfort are one of the easiest insurance people to talk to i've found.
Everytime i've called it's always a human who speaks my language.
Yesterday insured our new van with them.

We only ever know how good or otherwise an insurance company is or is not when we make a claim, it will concern me not being asked for information that in the event of claim would become suddenly relevant.
I always keep this wording in mind:
You have a duty under the Insurance Act 2015 to make a “fair presentation” of the risk and you must disclose to your insurer all information, facts, and circumstances which are, or ought to be, known to you and which are material

At £100,000 + I reckon the limiting factor will be value that they are prepared to insure. Most people Ive known at that sort of value have ended up with NFU.

Another vote for Comfort, answer the phone quickly and easy to talk to. my policy through them is with AXA, a pre-requisite I had was unlimted windscreen cover as we have an A Class.

SAGA told me that if I was seriously ill or injured then my wife would probably be too upset to drive so of course they would supply another driver.

That sounds good at the time you spoke with them. God forbid such an occurrence takes place and the call goes in and a different operator(claims manager ) does not agree with what you were told several months earlier. Do not rely on what one is told but what is written down, I think the term is' The computer says No'

I use NFU and found them excellent at working around most situations. I have found the bra ch in Henley in Arden very good, not that far from you.
