Don't worry, we have a couple over 90 in our Owners' Group and they still come to meets! I'm not sure how old you are what quotes have you had already?

I’m 79 and I’m with safeguard,I was with c&ccclub and when I changed M Homes it went up up from £300 to over£1000 so switched and am now paying just over £500 with safeguard including breakdown cover😎

A lot of companies will not take on new business of over 80's but will continue insuring you if you are already with them.
Try Comfort I think they will insure over 80's.

I am also 79 and use Safeguard, who changed the Underwriters not long ago.

Alan, or anybody else, do you know what there attitude is to continuing to ensure from 80 and beyond?

My renewal this year is in October and my 80th birthday is in December so I’m not expecting any problems,of course they’l probably ramp up the price.

Being 78 I decided to stick with my current insurers (Saga) so as to be an established client when I reach the 80 mark (if I do) and hope I have no problems. That said I bet they will use it to up the price

Not motor home insurance, but last year when our motor trade renewal came around they did not want to insure me as I was 76, the normal cut off is 75 but they let it go last year as I was a month away from my 75th.
We had been with Tangent for many years ( at least ) and had zero claims between six named drivers.
After getting hold of a senior manager they relented and offered to extend cover for me for an additional £2800. Needless to say we told them to get stuffed.
That was the end of my twice weekly visits to BCA car auctions moving cars for our son in law, end of lifetime in the motor trade !

Problems then started getting private car insurance, our motor homes have always been insured seperately with Comfort but they were not much help. Tangent eventually e.mailed conformation that neither my wife or I had any history of of claims so at least we could use that as help in our search.
After getting quotes from all the major insurance companies that advertise on the tv we eventually insured got cover from a lacklustre broker who already did our house insurance.

So Colyboy it does’nt pay to get old even if we assume that we are probably less risk than a teenager who when they crash big time they are likely to kill others.

Best of luck in your search Paul

Bl—dy hell, should have read through before posting, predictive spell has turned “ local broker “ into lacklustered. Sorry A1.

My friend Terrence has just turned 80. He is a superb driver with 60 years of never having an accident. He drives at a vigerous speed but is sensible.

Only idiots take a fixed point of age and make rules on that basis. My father died at 70 but much as I loved him he was TERRIBLE driver all his life. Not just when he was 70 but when he was far younger. He would sit on the white line in the middle of the road and drove at one never-ending speed in every situation. He had a green Bentley and was well known in the County but not for anything other than being a damned menice on the road!

Age has absolutely zero to do with quality of driving. I would rather be driven by an 80 year old that an 18 year old who has just passed their test!
