hi just about to get my first motorhome Hymer 660 1997, advice on insurance, only used to car insurance so is there any recommendations

We had reasonable premiums with both Comfort and NFU for our old 99 Hymer, and stayed with Comfort for a good few years.
A change of MH, has unfortunately seen a change of insurer, so back to NFU it was.

Cheers,

Jock. 🙂

Try Adrian Flux, mine cost around £270 ( I had no previous motorhome no claims) you may already be over it, check what your windscreen cover is when retrieving quotes, an A class windscreen replacement will be expensive.

Does the RAC European cover apply to the length and weight of your Hymer B660 for recovery/repatriation?
The reason I ask, is because quite often RAC cover is only applicable to a length of up to 6 x metres, and a weight up to 3500Kgs, unless taken out with insurance through the Camping & Caravan Club's Arrival scheme, whereupon the RAC's upper limits are much greater, including that for large American RVs.

It may be prudent to check, if you've not already done so. ;)

Good luck for Tuesday. (y)

will check the RAC, thanks.. windscreen yes unlimited just an excess

Just phoned and checked with Saga and they phoned RAC. RAC said they adhere to Saga terms. Saga terms are that there is no weight or length restrictions when bought via saga.... thanks for the heads up and worth a check (y)

Saga European breakdown has traditionally not covered vehicles over 17 yrs old.

That may of course have changed recently but also worth checking. ( Sorry!)

personally my first priority is whether the windscreen for a hymer a class is fully covered. There aren't that many that do so that should whittle your choice right down.

Mmy Aclass windscreen cost pennies under £3000.

When I inadvertently took out insurance with Adrian flux they only covered up to £1500. Times may have changed.
