Inflatable Paddle Boards (SUP) recommendations

I've seen a few people posting that they have SUPs and wonder for a complete novice which ones people would recommend?

I have a Goosehil 10'6 x 32" 6" a general all round beginners board, Daughter has a Two Bare Feet 10'6 x 33" x 4.75". The Two Bare Feet one looks smarter, I'm a complete beginner on the water I couldn't tell the difference. Goosehill £320, Two Bare Feet nearer £500. Decathlon look good value but no stock at the time.
The Goosehil is over a kilo lighter and being a 6" probably better if you are heavy (I'm not).
When we bought them in Feb there wasn't much choice everyone was out of stock.

Try Coolsurf for entry level inflatable SUP boards.

We have just bought a second one from them for about £240 and it seems ideal. Perfect for seeing if it's for you without spending the sort of money companies like Red ask.

We have just got 2 different sized 2 Bare feet boards.
Complete beginners, so the verdict after our first trips out is...10'10"x33x6 is more stable/slightly easier than 10'6"x32x4.75
Both doable & fun trying to master it.... only fell in once
Top tip.... electric pump is a good idea unless you fancy a workout before you start.

Check out Sandbanks SUP Style.
Purchased two boards from them last year.
We were novice boarders, before purchasing i would suggest you complete some basic training, its worth getting the basic techniques right, spending time learning the best way to remount is very useful, its surprising how many boarders paddle with the blade the wrong way round plus dont forget safety, invest in a good buoyancy jacket.

Sandbanks is a small family business, designing and selling boards, father and son team.
Brilliant customer care and advise, really impressed with them our boards retailed at £600 each however we did get a discount for buying two.
Plenty of excellent review of their boards available online.

We have 2x Red Paddle boards. They are superb.
Make sure that any board you buy is 6” thick. Anything less can flex too much.
Try and steer clear of the really cheap boards.

Agreed re stay away from the cheapie boards. You’re likely just to be put off.

Thoroughly recommend Two Bare Feet. Apart from the fact that they are Devon-based - (yay!), their range of boards is great and even their cheapest is high quality so you’ll enjoy learning.

Lost count on how many times I've fallen in.

Top tip.... electric pump is a good idea unless you fancy a workout before you start.

Leave mine pumped up in the garage and wheel it down the beach on a small trolly.
Thinking about getting an electric pump for when I take it in the Motorhome.
Any recommendations ?

We have a Sandbanks Style ultimate very well made and well priced not as stable as a Red 10'6 we learnt on but pretty good nevertheless.

We have 2 from decathlon , bought them pre covid in an end of line sale, they are really rigid when inflated.

mrjenben tells me that it does have a deflation option, we haven’t used it ! Maybe we will give it a go on our next outing

I must have been having a senior moment and mis read the tittle thinking how do you inflate a board. Sorry folks hope you find what you’re looking for. Looks a bit too wet for me.
