I never thought I would be posting this but there have been so many negative comments about the caravan and motorhome club that I feel I should.

When we first got our motorhome nearly 6 years ago we joined the CMC and used several of their sites, finding a full range of helpfulness from the wardens, from really good to downright unpleasant. Since we did most of our travelling in Europe we didn't renew and that was fine especially as we tend to prefer more informal parkings with not too many rules.

At the beginning of this year we had to be in Edinburgh for a prolonged period for family reasons. To give ourselves a base we decided to take the van up and looked at the sites available. From our initial phone enquiry and visit to the Edinburgh site the wardens couldn't have been better. They let us look around and helped us with the parking of an extra car outside the barrier so I could come and go at all hours as needed. During the three weeks we were there they were supportive but never intrusive.

I did send a thank you via their Head Office but feel I must stick up for them here. Having had previous negative experiences I was so pleasantly surprised. So please, don't tar them all woth the same brush. They really did help us through a painful time.

We stayed there last year and I endorse your comments. Great site and staff.

I never had any problems with cmc.? All the wardens seem helpful and the only time they intrude is when vans park too close infringing safety regulations.
They also have to put up with a lot of unreasonable customers. I have seen toilets and pitches left in a deplorable condition which they have to deal with. You get back what you give out.
We have been members for 10 years now.

Agree with the original post. This is a great site and the wardens have always been friendly and helpful.

For every one who has had an issue with CMC there will be someone who has had nothing but good service..

Me ? I would not give them the drippings off my nose.. Every dealing I have had with them has been an unmitigated disaster

I would say for an organisation that works in the leisure industry, there are an awful lot of complaints about... far far more than you see concerning any other organisation

Totally agree.

Jaws,

You obviously don't spend much time looking at Trip Advisor reviews if you think the C&MC reviews are bad.

I've been a member of the C&MC for many years and whilst I've met the odd unpleasant one, by far the majority of wardens have been pleasant and helpful and many have gone above and beyond to assist.

I know it's odd, but I find if you go expecting confrontation, you usually find it.

From my point of view, I couldn’t disagree more. Always found them them helpful with one exception. If you don’t want to abide by the rules ,don’t join.

We must discuss this at the Thetford bash. I have had only positive dealings with the cmc.
Look forward to meeting you.
