JCB Fiat Crawley RH11 8DU may be able to help. They service motorhomes. But they are closed today like most garages.

You maybe able to leave it on the forecourt adjacent to the petrol station. There is a train station adjacent if you need to get home.

What do the AA think is the problem?

Take a deep breath. Chances of being able to organise anything today are slim. Are you parked somewhere safe that you can stay overnight .. may not be ideal but don't waste energy trying to sort it now if you can possibly wait till morning when everywhere is open.

can you charge your phone up for any emergency through night?

Thanks for your responses guys
red warning light on dash - injection system failure.
AA thought it was fuel filter, checked that and all good. Put it back and damaged the seal causing diesel to leak. One hour later, he fixed that so no leaks but original problem, not identified by AA exists so has to go to a garage
Wagoneer thanks for that. I will give them a call tomorrow.
movan thank you. Luckily I had only just set off so about 10 miles from home and found nice garden centre to pull in. Just got a cab home to collect my car to take the dogs home and back with the van awaiting recovery to home address. Will sort out a garage and further recovery tomorrow.
My biggest fear is I am at a lovely garden centre with a credit card and space in the van to fill with shrubs!! Retail therapy is calling ?
Thanks everyone for your quick replies. Happy Sunday everyone

Injection system failure is often down to the injector wiring harness rubbing or getting pulled. Think there is a Fiat fix for it. In the meantime, if you're capable, have a look at the wiring going to the injectors and check for chaffing or a loose plug ?

I used to use the Crawley garage mentioned above but they are a tad expensive.

I now use Sutton & East Surrey Water, RH1 1LT (Redhill) for MOT and servicing. Tel: 01737 785808.

The Redhill garage may be a bit closer to your home.

Wonder why they need a mechanic who works on motorhomes when it isn't a motorhome fault, it's a base vehicle fault.
Why can't they just be honest and say "sorry, we have a lot of work and it may be some time before we get to it."

Hi Pink Hope you got home OK. I totally agree with pappajohn your problem is with the Fiat not the motorhome, talk MH they think you have an open cheque book.

I (as a retired diesel engineer ) would suggest a specialist fuel injection company with the correct diagnostic kit an ordinary Fiat car dealer would generally work on Puntos etc. It would help them diagnose it quicker if you can give them the symptoms " did engine just stop" if so it could be ignition switch or immobilser or did you stop it when the light came on.does it start and run now. They more you can tell them the quicker they can diagnose it so hopefully save you some money. Im up norf so no i cant recommend any garages. Good luck

Could be because it's an A class and the Motorhome Mechanic has arms that don't have any bones in, and fingers that are at least 12 inches long (again with no bones). We've just put a new aerial on ours and those physical attributes would have come in REALLY handy....

Best of luck with the garage tomorrow Wendy x

If you get stuck for a garage try Mark at MDR Automotive. He has a place behind 4Front Motorhomes on the A23 at Warninglid. His number is on the interweb 07584 096406. He has worked on A Classes and Coachbuilts for me.

I used a garage recommended by Waggoner. They deal with commercial vehicles and have the required diagnostic kit.

Problem resolved. It was the fuel injector which has now been replaced and the van is running as smooth as a baby’s bottom!

Wagoneer thanks for your recommendation.

Glad you got it fixed. Guess you used the Redhill garage. It's a bit rough and ready but they know their stuff...servicing a fleet of commercial vehicles.

Hope I get a discount for my next service and MOT :ROFLMAO:

@ Waggoner it was the SES one at Redhill and they certainly do..
I would have mentioned your name but they probably wouldn’t recognise your funster name ?
