In My mums terraced house the space under the stairs was always called the Glory Hole as that's where her and gran used to shelter during the Liverpool Blitz.

That request should be in the tongue in cheek post about reducing load. That would guarantee your payload would be a lot lighter after your first rest stop or supermarket visit. Make it easier and leave your handbag and camera in view.
