So, one fine morning, carefully parking the moho tight up against a curb, I managed to hit one of the overhead cab running lights on a tree that leant out slightly in to the road - doh!!!

It's a 2000 Karmann Colorado, no UK Karmann dealer as such these days, didn't hold out much hope of getting the bits to repair it, it's gone through 2 MOT's so wasn't too worried, had as many bits as I could gather from the floor in the hope of piecing it back together, and had even considered trying to get the one on the other side 3d printed in reverse if there was any clever mirror image software out there.

Anyway, came across some parts suppliers on a forum I was reading and it got me to doing something about it. Emailed Karmann (Germany) yesterday got an automated reply saying they are shut for hols until the 9/8. Today got an email from them saying I had to go through a dealer and they sent me a link to a map of dealers, chose one in Switzerland and emailed, they don't speak English but good old Google Translate let them reply, both the lens and the L shaped "carrier" are avaiable for 22 euros plus delivery and 'works', whatever that is. So I'll be very happy to receive both bits even if the price doubles with works and delivery!!

Ha ha, yesterday was a good day! I remembered I'd also managed to let my mountain bike fall against one of the rear light cluster and the handlebar punched a nice round hole through the reversing light section!! This could be more troublesome come next MOT.

Got back in touch, yep, the part is available, 51 euros, another absolute bargain!

All parts on order and she's taken my address and not even mentioned how I pay ? :D2

Its a strange phenomenon that some European companies are willing to send parts COD. It would never happen in the UK. In the past I have received parts from Germany followed by an invoice a few days later.

Interesting, well, when you don't feel like you are having your pants pulled down when it comes to the bill it will be a pleasure to pay up :D
