Hi, has anyone had problems with the hinges on the boot which lifts up and becoming detached. We have had to put another hinge on the other side so boot holds up but the original one which was repaired has come loose again, we have glued it, plugged it and screwed it back in, large plugs and screws but has come out again. Glue nor plugs and screws are holding in. Very heavy to hold up, has anyone any ideas how we can solve this. The second on is also coming loose. Van 4 years old.

Last year I found myself in the position of needing a major repair for my IH 630 RL. We were already booked for Malvern with IH Owners and so were able to discuss the issue both with the I H senior fitter and with a Ian Hartley. As a result the problem was rectified at the IH factory to my satisfaction.
This might be a good route for you as you are not too far away. I will send you a PM.

Is it the surface that the hinges screw into that has failed/rotted etc?
Is it timber that has rotted slightly?

That’s true, but nothing beats direct access to the main man, IH after sales team lovely but can be defensive.

May be an idea to degrease then wet assemble the hinges with Fix-all or Sikaflex Sealant. They are a big heavy fibreglass boot door on an IH and its too much to ask for screws or rivets to hold.
Remove the struts first and leave overnight until the sealant has cured. We repaired one at work after the bosses partner dislodged the door when showing a prospective buyer inside the boot.

I may have mislead people here, it’s not the hinge across the boot door it’s the the gas strut bracket that is fixed to on the door that has come away from the boot door

Same again, Sikaflex to secure.

Is there a particular type needed, do I still require wooden plugs and screws, do I fill hole with sikaflex or screw into it? Sorry for all questions, and yes it’s someone who doesn’t know what they are doing

It's not a big job, just awkward as the struts will fight against you and the door is heavy and is a finger / hand trap hazard. You need to remove the bracket{s} from the strut{s}. Mark the brackets so you know the correct orientation. Hold the door up securely with wooden poles / bungees as it will hurt your hand if it falls. Degrease the bracket area and refit just the sikaflexed brackets with either rawl plugs, longer screws, bigger diameter screws etc. Dip the screws in sickaflex. Leave over night to cure the sealant. Refit the struts to the brackets { with assistance if required }, watch the door doesn't fall and trap your fingers/ hands.
Don't move the van while the door is mid repair.
If You don't feel confident in doing a repair take it to a dealer, its about a 1 hour job.
