Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
.......don't they also kill the good bacteria in one's gut?

The instructions on my Aquatabs say one tab per 25 litres. Leave for 15 min before use.
No mention of flushing through.

I only use the tabs maybe once every 4 or 5 fills and only use the tank water for washing/showering/teeth brushing and washing up but some water must be swallowed.

Similarly the tap water at home since that has chlorine added.

We only do our tank once a year if that we drink from our tank and all the rest tap water has enough cloren to keep it safe.
Never had any problems when we are in Europe as well.

They do kill microorganisms but at the concentration you've been advised to use it would be safe - even more do if you are told to wait some time before consuming the water.

Chlorine breaks down into less harmful products quite quickly and evaporates readily. Hence, if you put tap water into a fridge and leave for 24 hrs, it will taste nicer than tap water that has been stored for a much shorter time.

I'd by surprised if enzymes in your stomach gave you any protection from chlorine - chlorine denatures proteins (and, therefore, enzymes) so your digestive enzymes would be damaged / destroyed by it.

Ps. Others might advise whether chlorine tablets are safe to use in MH systems - I have a suspicion that some damage metal pipes / heating systems but could be wrong.

Your stomach is pretty acidic I would have thought any chlorine would be neutralised straight away. Of course you could take the Trump idea and wonder if it's somehow possible to get chlorine inside people!!!

The amount of chlorine in water is quite small, and once the water gets inside us the chlorine atoms get converted very quickly into chloride ions. These are quite harmless to us, in reasonable quantities. For example, ordinary table salt is 50% chloride ions.

Anyone can think up a dozen ways to kill bacteria, the trick is to find something that kills bacteria but doesn't kill people. Chlorine is pretty good at killing bacteria in water, and is relatively harmless to people.

Try drinking a whole bottle

That'll kill you for sure

PS - Only kidding about drinking it

Aqua Tabs are great at keeping bugs away from inside the plastic tanks and pipes and depending on how often you use and refill the water will depend upon the need for purification etc, however none of this will stop the buildup of calcium and scale, regardless of how much chlorine is added by the water boards or us.

We can state that we’ve never had any issues regarding stale or dirty water, but the inside of the tanks, hoses, taps, heaters etc, will still need to be descaled and hence cleaned.

I remember how heavy my old water pump was compared to the new one I was fitting and inside it was full of scale.

I now don’t bother so much with tabs, but do like to keep the entire water systems scale free as much as possible 👍🏻

As to the OP’s original question, I don’t know the correct answer 🤷🏼‍♂️
