Yesterday after only a day off grid, the water pump started to hum all the time. The battery level had dropped to 12.2v on the Sargent display by the door; the main unit is a Sargent EC328. (The battery was fully charged when we started).
I think I need a new battery.
What would my best option be?
We go away away at least once a month throughout the year and like CL/CS sites and use aires when we go abroad for main holiday, normally 3-4 weeks.

Sounds like the pump. Try turning it off.

Why would you need another battery, sounds as if the water pump is running it down, it would do the same to a new battery.

When our Whale pump failed it wouldn't start up and was taking 4 amps continuously. Good job I spotted it on the battery monitor, switched it off.

The motor brushes had worn out by the way.

Just switch the pump off and then check the battery which may be ok and just needs a charge.
If your away just switch on the pump at the control panel just when you need it.if you fill up a 5 litre water bottle you can use that for brews etc. Without using the pump until you can get it sorted.

I should have said we are now at another site with EHU and the pump is only coming on when we turn a tap on
Without the EHU yesterday we were turning water off at the switch over the door but it is very inconvenient and I don’t think the pump was running the battery down. i think it was because the battery lost power it didn’t have enough umph to keep the pressure up when not in use.
We have a 5lt jug of water for filling the kettle

I went for the Exide ES900 gel as it can be discharged down to 20% without damage. They also can last 10 years 😎👌

The pump should work on 12.2 volts, if that was a correct reading of course. :)
