How do you remove the door casing. I have a problem on our Rapido where I can hear the central locking working but it will only open with the key so need to get in and have a look.

I have read on hear about similar issues and cleaning the contacts but no contacts visible just a wiring loom at the bottom left corner.

Do you mean the one that I’ve circled?
Has it missing a clip?

No I know about that one I disconnected it it’s the rod that goes on the inside handle it comes down to a black bit if you look at the run of it when I pull the handle the rod works itself out of handle there is something not put together there it’s not a straight pull

The two actuating rods at the top of the picture don’t look right. The one attached to the bottom of the door handle should be nigh on vertical I think, that means it needs to be in the right hand hole of the “seesaw” bracket below it. This in turn means that the long, heavily bent rod should go in the left hand hole of the seesaw bracket and through the slot in the flat grey aluminium plate below that. What would really help was if the parts all had numbers!!
If you treat this as a puzzle then it should become obvious after a while. At the very bottom of the picture there is a solenoid, this either locks or unlocks the door. But you need to remember that it will only lock or unlock the door WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT. With the door open put the components that keep the door shut into their shut positions. Activate the remote to lock the door and watch which way it rotates, you will see the rod from the solenoid operates several other rods, which way do they rotate? Follow each rod in turn and you should be able to figure out what it is supposed to do. Look for wear marks on components, how did they get there? The lock will have been designed to last for a long time so the rod at the top of the assembly looks out of place, it will cause lots of friction and wear the way it is situated at the moment. It has a spring on it because it is supposed to slide up and down in the handle assembly but still stay connected to the handle and not fall off/out. When the spring is at rest and you pull the door handle it will move the rod up, rotate the seesaw bracket anti clockwise, assuming you have repositioned both rods as earlier described. It’s there to OPEN the door and release all the mechanisms that are currently holding the door shut. The long heavily bent rod that’s now in the left hand side of the seesaw bracket will move down, rotating the bracket it is attached to and rotating everything else attached to it, what do they all do? Whoa! Bit of a stream of consciousness there but I hope that helps!

When you get it to work post a before and after pic please!

Cheers! Russ

Regarding post no.9 the “s” shape should go through a hole in a bracket, probably the internal door handle/opener, but the bracket SHOULD have a rotating “C” shaped clip on it that grips the rod and keeps it in place, as per all the other rods in this assembly.

The black see saw has rotated because the bent rod is not in the aluminium guide, which appears to have a spring missing on the right screw to retain it

Hi no hole in it

I had same on my rapido. Where the wire goes into door. There is most likely a break in the wire. Pull back the loom cover carefully and you will see the wires.Thet are very brittle. I rejoined mine.

Hi you have to read the thread it’s not wireing I’m asking about thanks Andy
