So I've been annoying everyone so far about an Arto 69 that I've decided not to go for.

I've now enquired about a Hymer B524 which looks like it could fit our needs. It's currently registered as 3500kg MAM but I've asked the dealer to send me a picture of the Weight Plate.

I've read through the buyers guide and searched the forums but just wanted to confirm that with the individual axle weights, I could apply to have the MAM increased?

I believe going to 3.8t would just be a paper exercise, but you could go to 4.1t if you have the correct tyres and 16" wheels

Be aware you will need a C1 licence for anything over 3.5t ... worth checking :-)

The missus and I are both old enough to have C1 😁

Usually 3.9t someone has possibly downrated it in which case you can put it back.
My 654 hymer was the same when i bought it

Maybe worth getting one of the weight engineering places to do it. ....SVtek or Van Weight engineering.....they will provide all documents DVLA insist on.
DVLA tend to ignore individuals trying to change weight limits.
They don't get it right every time, even for the experts

Yes! But you may not need to. Once you’ve got it,load up with water,fuel,food,clothes,gin,beer,wine…...and go to your local weighbridge.

By opening up another thread you are going to have to explain your needs all over again, e.g. that you both have C1 licence and now what you want to carry etc. will crop up.

Thanks Geoff. I didn't want to cause any confusion by adding this to my previous thread.

3970Kg should be possible without modifications - assuming TYRES are correctly rated for the higher weight.
VanWeightEngineering were well worth the money when i did it.

Do remember the new weight 3970 still has a max limit for rear axle 2120Kg - which is where your real world focus should be. Very hard to max the front axle and very easy to max the rear.

I had a Hymer B574 same plate as yours. Poss same chassis size?

Was already fitted with 225 70 15c

Rang SV Tech very helpful, paper exercise £160 plate and paperwork for dvla ect up from 3500kg to 3850kg
Good enough for my needs.
I did have a spare rear air suspension kit laying around and it handled perfectly after fitting, better than previous.

What's the sleeping layout in this 524? That's my one in my profile pic and if the one you are looking at is the same layout I wouldn't say it would fit your needs. I just caught your other threads and see it's for 4 people but not 2 doubles.

The 524 does give you the decent sized garage and plenty storage but the compromise to that is not so much space inside.

I have the over cab bed and the bed above the garage at the back which would only give you the 3 berth. Although I'm sure I did see someone on here with a 524 with bunkbed arrangement which may work for you.

I have 4090kg on the original steel 15" rims , but upgraded tyres to 1150kg max tyre loading per wheel.
Van Weight Engineering, [ VWE] did the leg work for it. I did the tyres and and air bags on the back. the front remained as standard.
Mike.

We have a 2001 B584 on a Fiat chassis with 16” wheels and I had it up-rated to 3850 kg (from 3500)
This was a paper work exercise, I did it through Hymer Germany direct.
