We are about to pick 2kittens up, and will be traveling with them abroad for holidays. If I get the chip that the kitten will have with an address say šŸ¤  n France, will that help me get a pet passport when I take them abroad for the 1st time. Or does it not matter and just get the UK address put on. The French address is a relative ( British) living out there.
Thanks in advance

Our dog has a Greek passport which we got quite easily but I understand the system in France is much stricter and the animal has to be registered with something called ICad which takes time.
It might be worth travelling further afield than France to get their passports. I think some vets in Belgium and Spain will do them without you having to be resident.
Good luck!

Spanish dog. UK address. French vet happy with passport thereafter.

Donā€™t think you will be able to get the animals (cat, dog or otherwise) to France without a chip etc!
Unless you smuggle of course and that could be dodgy!

I believe they will need an AHC to enter the EU then if you have a French address then you will likely be able to get a French pet passport.
You need to check what vaccinations if any the cats need to get the AHC. There are restrictions on age for some vaccinations so if these are very young kittens it is possible you may have a few weeks wait to meet requirements.

I think what you are saying is: if when you get the kittens microchipped here in the UK you have that chip registered to your relativeā€™s French address, will that help you get a Pet Passport? If that is the question then the answer to it is no, it will not make any difference.

Yes thats exactly what I am saying. I know about ahc etc, as we have an older cat, and used ahc recently. The kittens are being chipped in the UK, but which address will be best to make it easier for them to get pet passports abroad. A UK one or a French one, or does it not matter at all.
Thanks

You will need to use a French address to get a French pet passport. Things have tightened up recently, as a result of UK residents getting French pet passports using false French addresses. Some French vets will no longer issue passports unless you can prove residency (my vet included). Some still will but it's a risk for them, as they're issuing a fraudulent passport.
