Good evening, I have a 2018 Swift with a microwave which works fine on hookup. I fitted a 1500 watt inverter and the microwave worked well on that, but know doesnt. We have two batteries, and we had travelled for a few hours so all was charged up well.

Do any of you clever peoples have any ideas why it is messing around ?

Thank you Roger

Our cheap and small microwave draws 1500 watts, the lower settings are just timed pulses. Our 3kw invertor manages when the batteries are fully charged.

That will depend on how well charged they were before setting off.
It will take more than 'a few hours' to fully charge from 50 or 60 percent discharged.

What's the wattage of the micro..
1000w will boost up to poss 1500 on startup anyway
Turn lower and retry. And you say 2 batteries..what type /lithium/lead etc and what amps
Micros suck a fair bit of power

Thanks for the replies. The lead batteries were full as I had the van plugged into the mains for a few days before we met. The wattage rated output is 800w rated input is 1250w. I must now confess I didnt realise that the microwace does have power adjustment, it has 5 settings, it was on the highest setting, the next one down is 80% power and ding dong it works.

Thanks a lot much appreciated. ( must read instructions )

we always run ours on the 80 percent power setting I think it draws around 1200w max it certainly drags the battery down but fortunately dont need to use it for long

Ok, i assume it must have been set on a lower setting before and got moved. We do only use it for 2 to 3 minutes to heat things up.

Oh ok, I wasn't aware of that thank you. It does now start on the 80 per cent setting now though so happy boy.

Our microwave was hit and miss on our lead acid batteries. Since upgrading to Lithium it’s much better.

I have the same microwave in my Swift and I also have one at home. They draw 1600wats plus start up on full.
