I don’t normally complain about the Caravan Club but …….

they are referring my complaint to the Member Relations team
Brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles or is it any relation? :roflmto:

Where do they get these department names from? What's wrong with 'Membership'? I know its not just CAMC, but I am sure someone sits in every company coming up with department and role names.
A company I worked for we had a restructuring exercise and they appointed me to a new role. Personnel, as it was then called before it became Human Resources, came up with a job title of 'Senior Manager - Business, Application, EPOS, Hosting and Technical Systems Support'!! I protested but they would not budge until they found it would not fit on the badge we had to wear if visiting a site! I suggested and they eventually agreed to Systems Manager - Support. (There was already a Systems Manager - Development so dropping the 'senior' was already a precedent. All other senior managers in the business wore the title).

Never worked out if these department titles and role names are just ego boosters. Couldn't believe when I worked with NCR how many 'Vice Presidents' and 'Assistant Vice Presidents' they had.

Not sure I've ever really fully bought that.

We used to call people persons. Now we call them 'resources', factors of production, that just happen to be human. Human Resources have to be fed Bovine Resources to restore their energies, and we need to ensure that the Atmospheric Resources are conducive to their productivity.

And we do this in the name of progress.

Human Remains, Hardly Responsive are other variants. ;)

I use 2 cups of salt in a gallon of vinegar with a squeeze of soap as a weed killer. Dog friendly and kills most greenery.
I admit for bulk use it would be difficult to knock up, however for the homeowner it works a treat.

My observation of these campsite wardens is give them any type of ground maintenance equipement and they become obsessed with obliterating any new growth whilst making a hugely disturbing amount of noise.
Not content with the screaming engines of their hedge trimmers,Strimmers, blowers, mowers and tractors they are now killing the grass with weed killer.
They also seem to wander around with blowers blowing gravel off the roadways back onto the hardstanding pitches. For Gods do it with a broom Tossers
The way you talk about people and jobs you clearly do not understand shows ignorance of the highest order, wardens have multiple jobs to do in a day with very little thanks or consideration, you are speaking from a point of view of looking after a garden at your home not trying to cover several acres of campsite hence the need for industrial equipment (sometimes noisy ). A moment to think of what your campsite experience would be without the people who clean and tidy up after everyone would be like, although people with your attitude are a small minority they do contribute to the way others think of them in this difficult customer service industry.

I am now on a C&CC site with lovely staff and I bought them cakes yesterday 👍

I am currently on the CMHC site at Cirencester and this morning I was sitting in my van having a cuppa when I saw a man dressed in head to toe protection gear complete with face mask spraying round the edges of the pitches.

As he got nearer to my pitch, I poked my head out of the window and asked if whatever he was using was safe for dogs.

He said that it was, once it was dry!

He was very shirty when I told him not to spray anywhere near my van.

A neighbour asked what the chemical was and was told it was Roundup which to my understanding is highly toxic and has been linked to causing cancer. It’s also quite windy today so there will be drifting.

There will also be campers returning to their vans with dogs, totally unaware!

Apparently it is the Caravan Club’s weedkiller of choice to control the weeds.

Complaint to the club sent. We’ll see what the reply is.
Given the operative needed full PPE then the product must potentially be hazardous to all animal life forms and is not an appropriate means of weed control on a site that is always occupied. Having just returned from a Belgium/Luxembourg/Holland trip, I can point out that the choice method of weed control around those areas was burning the plants with gas torches. An immediate result is achieved without the risks associated with chemicals. Maybe CAMC could look into using that system.

Round Up has the benefit of killing the root system of the plant and helps keep areas weed free for longer, but it takes 2 to 3 weeks to achieve that. Other non-systemic sprays such as Weedol, kill the plant above ground overnight but don't affect the root system and therefore need reapplying sooner.

Most of my maintenance equipment is battery powered and hence much quieter and also adequate sound suppression for the exhaust noise from my tractor.
I suppose being a wild camper you are unlikely to suffer from noise polution.

It’s one of the benefits of being a club member - apart from paying for my imaginary friend, I do resent paying £2 a night for the dog at many commercial sites.
“Janine………this imaginary friend….. Are they in the room with you right now?” 😂

Sorry - could not resist

Reminds me of a role i had on a major IT programme. I ran the teams investigating and fixing any errors found during the systems testing.
My job title was "Corrections Manager". Other attendees on a residential course I attended whilst doing the role seemed to get the wrong end of the stick and had many questions about it - sadly the reality wasnt quite as exciting as the reality

I do think it’s strange that I have never had a dog that’s sane 🤔🤪
They say like goes to like but not sure how that works as Buzz gets treats carrots belly rubs walks and pj's when he's cold

And your the one who picks up his poop

Wonder what he thinks ..... 🐶

Using Roundup once or twice a year or a dog licking freshly sprayed weeds will have no affect to human nor animal as it is pet freindly, however for the warden routinely coming into contact with it as part of his job is why the CAMC err on the side of safety to their employees. Unfortunately every warden does not always have the time to explain to every single person on site the reasons for every single part of his job even though some feel entitled to it, please have a littlle more respect for these people, and as for blow torches well.........

Don't sit in the fence mate. Take a deep breath and tell us how you feel 😁👍
P.s .. I agree 👍

I’ve made two complaints to them but never had a response. My membership is up for renewal in June but will not be renewing.

I am thinking about not renewing too, after having been a member for many years.

There are a few sites that I would miss but C&CC are a lot cheaper. I am sure that Cirencester used to be about £15 a night out of season - now it’s £27.

Must be a US company - they seem to love their Presidents (well perhaps not the current one :giggle:)

A friend at work used to call Human Recourses 'the Smiling Assassins' as we had a lot of redundancies at that time.

When we lived in France we used to buy concentrated Glyphosate to dilute and use on difficult weeds such as ivy.
It was then banned as Carcinogenic until further research carried out showed it be carcinogenic to the same level as eating bacon.😳

As a result France was going to remove the ban on its sale but, as we sold our property in France, I don’t know if the concentrate was ever actually returned to the market.

It was a brilliant weed killer.
Glyphosate weedkillers went on a warning list and brico shops put them in closed cabinets for sale but then they were actually banned for sale to the public. Farmers kicked off because there is nothing remotely as effective available and they keep being allowed to on a year by year basis. Glyphosate is also suspected to be an "Endocrine Disruptor" because it might interfere with our bodies hormones. Our village workmen who keep the place tidy (ish!) are not allowed to use it but they turn a blind eye if private individuals use it around their houses.

Just stayed in a lovely camping Municipal in the Champagne, the grass was 6 inches long, full of daisies and buttercups. Did it bother me? No, it was great for all the pollinators and the birds and it looked beautiful.

I know we’ve been down the charge for dogs which I still don’t get.

Do we have a name for you’re imaginary friend??

My Daughter had an imaginary friend in a holiday rental in Cornwall once 😊

Actually i am a campsite manager and cant help it if i defend the industry from ill informed comments, every warden in the country could tell tales of disgusting, rude and stupid campers and caravaners, however most are not and most understand that maintenance has to be done on site. And again your lack of understanding of basic business, if a lawnmower is purchased for example, our last one was £64000, it is expected to last at least 10/15 years, in this time technology moves ever forward and electric power advances and quieter machines become available however the lawnmower still has to repay its investment before it can be changed, we all strive to make the experience as good as possible but the basics of running a site have to be done and sometimes they have to be done when weather dictates, hope this helps inform a little.
