Got a friend interested in buying a motorhome/pvc but got 3 kids so needs suggestions for something him, Mrs and 3 kids can travel in legally. Not got a silly budget. Any ideas?

Start with does he have C1 on his licence? With 3 kids payload is going to be an issue. How old are the kids and what is the preferred sleeping arrangement?

Once the C1 issue is clarified there's plenty of choice but in the end all comes down to layout, also where is he going to keep it (size).

Get him to join here and download a copy of Jim's "Buying a Motorhome" book.

Space would be high on the list with 3 kids 🤔
End lounge might give you more family space 🥳

Might be better with PVC and trailer tent.... accommodating 5 to sleep and payload would mean a largish coachbuilt or A class

It would be simpler if your friend joined and could supply more details.
As TerryL has already asked........
Does he have a C1 licence?
How old are the kids?
Is there a length limit for where it will be kept?
Will they be using commercial sites with all facilities or CL's, farms/pub car parks etc. without electricity?
What is 'not got a silly budget'?

I’ve asked him to join, does have c1, using all sites, budget is sub 40k
You said he didn't have a silly budget - £40k...?

Never spent that much unless it had concrete foundations!! :giggle:

Kids,10, 12,14. First venture into MH’ing so I’ve asked him to join the forum and pick brains. ‘Silly budget’. His words

Seriously he'll find a van but will need a C1 licence just to carry the passengers and kit. With kids that age he will need a tent or awning.... believe me!....

We had an Autotrail Scout with 6 belted seats which was a good family van (y)

Then a 4 berth would be fine!

That is a help. Without some precise details it's so easy for a thread to dive off into making suggestions that would be unsuitable when we don't know what we don't know. ;)

our old Hymer 2006 classic [like the swing ] had 6 belted seats - was under 6 m - had 2 big double beds one drop down.
Miss it still but not the underpowered engine ....... good for trips with kids xx
