I`m considering a 3.0 ltr mercedes diesel engined 1989 Hymer S660.
Any information relative to this model, what to look for, good/bad points etc. would be most appreciated.
thanks.

what can I say, will do plus points first.
For:-
Prices hold very well
Merceedes diesel good for around 650,000 miles
A reliable solid engine that runs forvever.
Parts available almost anywhere in the world
Chassis is legendary, rust almost unheard of even that age
Habitation, German built for holidaying in a Northern European winter unlike British vans built for a spanish summer, solid German engineering, excellent finish not likely to fall to pieces.
Against???????????????????????????????????
sorry can't think of any.:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

i have to add we had a 1986 hymer 660s as our first van. that too was on a mercedes. as far as quality goes it has been the best one we have ever had. we never had any trouble with it only usual wear and tear stuff. we only changed it for a layout more suited to us and our lifestyle as it didn't have enough storage space for all our hobbies. the van itself was sold to a couple up the road in gloucestershire who as far as i know still have it and love it as much as we did. it must have at least 250000km on the clock by now and is still going strong. we met them at one of the shows last year and they have had no trouble with it either.
