Hi just been down to get some paint out of my Winnie opposite you and noticed you have a broken lens on the passenger side, not sure if you are aware.

yet another nearside light issue on Hymer tear drops

Either takes very good care of it or it is pretty new :(

certainly not likely to be one of the 07 'batch' Hymer claimed

I might resurrect my claim on Hymer that they made me pay for last year

Looks like as Exsis, same unit as B class there are no washers on it, buy in germany about €900, still very painful. Pleased our new Hymer has plastic headlamps.

I quote from a very heartfelt real life experience £1450 fitted, TW did try to get it as warranty but Hymer insisted from a photo only that it was 'clearly' a stone chip o_O:(:mad:

Outrageous:mad:

I remember your thread on it I think.

the one very minor benefit I got from our change was finding out we had washers, when I checked the fitting I queried what the water was running down the bumper o_Oo_O

we had only owned it for 3 years, but never (very rarely) drive in the dark

Was a newbie, now a Middie.
More and more of this CRAP going on. The idea seems to be that if you can afford say 50k plus for a MH, then you can afford 1400 quid for a lens, or even 500 notes for a mirror.
And it dosent end with motorhomes. The rip offs that are being carried out against (mostly) vulnerable people who buy new mobility scooters are breathtaking! Adding a grand on because they see this old dear as worth a few bob, with no industry recommended retail prices on the new units. I was talking to a guy at Southport this week whose mother was taken for a (monetary) ride this way.

edit - just reviewed my search, sadly there are 2 newish members in Ipswich, one with a Hymer one declared as an A class, one of them is in for a shock I fear :(

Easy to wise in hindsight but are plastic deflectors readily available?

Sorry I clicked post before I'd finished, if you can get a part number, it's worth phoning a few motor factors as I doubt Hymer get them made specially. I saw an OEM BMW rear light costing £200, cost £75 from a motor factors, you could not see the difference unless you were 6" away as it didn't have the same logo in the plastic.

no to point one

and to the rest, trust me I tried very hard before having no option but to give a UK Hymer dealer all of that money

They are a Hella make, but made exclusively for Hymer and can not be purchased directly from Hella :(

Worst of all is they are cheaper bought in Germany, at the time I decided the risk of damage in transit and self fitting wasn't viable

Having had a very bad fitting job by TW Hymer specialists, resulting ion having to remove it myself to refit, now I know how to do it I would buy from Germany or Belgium, but knowing my luck, being a RHD it will not be available outside the UK o_O

the real problem is Hymer blame stone chips, it is stress that breaks them not impact, so a cover wouldn't help, other than removing the stone chip blame option to Hymer maybe (y)

The most positive thing is that after 10 years Hymer have at last stopped fitting them (y)(y)

I would HAVE to try, and make a poly-carbonate lens to fit. Those prices are TOO bad to be real. Worth the attempt as it is not really a lens just a cover.

You could try a decal or wrapping company and have clear fitted over your headlights.

When did they stop fitting them - I have recently bought a 2016 Hymer A class ML-L 580 do you know if it will have the "suspect" ones fitted?

I do not think they have mine is the same and it is glass same as the ones that self destructed but it was a stress put on them during fitting, I understand the glass had a contact with the body at one point and this caused them to break and being tempered glass they shatter into sugar cube bits. I had a problem getting a headlight for my BMW K100 RT when i fitted the fairing to the straight bike and I DID get it direct from Hella in the end for over half less than BMW wanted as it was a special, The UK ones seem the same as the Euro models as the dip is mechanically moved in side the headlight. I bet they are less in Belgium and Germany as they would not put up with it, only on Treasure Island, No wonder the Eurocrats do not want the UK to leave, the profits would plummet.

That makes the 2300€ we spent having the gearbox rebuilt by Fiat look like good value.

We had the headlight go on our Hymer when we were in France. 950 euros to fit a new one. Very expensive but less than the uk I think.

I didn't realise they had until I read @Lenny HB post higher up, his is brand new though, but hope you got plastic as well, it really seems nearly criminal if there is a design issue and Hymer continue to take money off unsuspecting folk to mend it o_O:(

I made some for the Exsis we had.

Only plastic on the Dynamic Line and the new Exsis, I think the new Exsis is only available in Germany only been out a few weeks, same front end as Dynamic Line.
