This weeks problem….

I parked the van in the storage yard two weeks ago.

I was going to take it for a pre-lock down drive today but it wouldn’t start.. It turned over fine but there was a very strong smell of diesel.

I think something has nibbled my fuel pipes between the bulkhead and, I assume, the fuel pump. If I turn the ignition on fuel comes spurting out. I can hear the pump running. I traced it back to the pipes labelled 1 & 2 in the picture.

Item 3 seems to be some plastic debris - I couldn’t see this but put the phone inside the engine bay to get the picture and noticed it when I got home.

Bit stuffed now, can’t drive the van to the garage. So its stuck in the yard for the next four weeks. I assume I’ll have to call recovery and get it taken somewhere unless I can get a mobile mechanic out to do it. I'm not sure if its a specialist thing or whether the fuel lines need to be bled or pressurised after new pipes are fitted.

Anyone know of a suitable garage or mobile mechanic in the Northwich / Knutsford area of Cheshire?

Looks like mice doing the damage...
I reckon that's quite likely. Hopefully moving before the end of the year and the Hymer can then live at home rather than in the storage yard. That way I can keep more of an eye on it!

Quite pleased with myself ... managed to replace a diesel pipe and repair the other while the van was stuck at the storage year. Total cost to me about £50 - probably could have repaired both pipes and saved £40.

A lot cheaper than having it recovered and getting a garage to fix it. I also learnt loads about what goes where in the engine bay.

I documented the repair over on the Fiat Forum in case anyone's wants to gen up on how to do it !
