I am guessing a few of you may have this type of controller, although knowing my luck they only fitted it in mine 🤣👍

the display is altered by rotation of the knob, in conjunction with function changes by pressing same knob

trouble is it doesn’t do what you want, turning to right can take it left right or nowhere, similar in other direction

with patience it eventually goes to the display I want, but it would be nice if it did what I wanted 🤔

any tips or suggestions , ideally not involving a lump hammer. Although it is my favourite tool 😁

if I pull the knob gently it sometimes seems a little better, but I am not convinced that is any more than luck

I have tried turning off and back on , no change, can’t easily see a way to access the power supply to the board to physically disconnect

my gut feeling it is mechanical , a faulty rotating switch maybe ?

Occasionally I hear it beeping to itself as it changes without even being touched

Maybe they can do a repair for you

Have a look at the rear of the plastic knob to see if it is worn. If it is worn it will not work properly.

not quite sure what you mean by worn, it is a snug fit 👍

but I have the same issue even with the knob removed just turning the stub on the board 🤔👍

The one in my van can be a bit fiddly, you need a safe cracker's touch when using it !

You mean one of these in silver :)

I think the controllers are both the same apart from colour

I managed to translate your link to English , they don’t appear to sell them though

but even Apuljak only list one from RMC not Hymer which I think uses the black one, Hymer ones as ever not available

I will be calling to discuss a repair option 👍

Chances are its a dry joint on one of the pot legs (middle top looks sus).

if you are ok with electronics and handy with a soldering iron, get to the back of the main board and a dab on each pot leg (plus solder if needed) could sort it for you.

Best of luck,

Richard

Try some contact spray....👍🏼

I don’t mean to seem daft, but as I seem able to break things just being near them, I don’t want to use the wrong stuff

is WD40 OK?

Although even that comes in different blends 🤔

As Robert Clark suggests David 👍🏼 Just spray a little only on the rotating switch... and let it dry before trying

My Hobby had something very very similar with the words Hobby stuck on and the control at the base ( I would have said Knob at the bottom but the post might have been hijacked by the Viz readers!) It might be worth e mailing them at Fockbeck as they keep spares for the vans for at least 20 years , no idea of price though or try cleaning the joints with isopropyl alcohol, available from proper chemists and has 1001 uses

NEVER use WD40 on electronics. The name denotes it's purpose W water D dispersal 40 type 40. Other than the specialist switch and contact cleaner, the usual stuff leaves a coating on the contacts making the problem worse

Turn the power off and spray into the switch with contact cleaner as you move the switch. This will dissolve light corrosion and carbon on the contact pads. If this does not solve the issue, try resoldering the switch legs, very carefully. If that fails, it is time for a new switch, if you can source a matching one

David

delighted to report that with the right stuff confidently applied by the owner of above can and with huge thanks to Robert we have fixed it 🙂👍

power down at Reich unit, applied, left to dry for 10 mins , turn back on , all back working

we did have 2 very minor issues but both have self healed 👍

1. there was residual spray in the LCD area, think this just took longer to dry being stuck behind the screen

2. the controller turned itself off after a few mins, thought I might need to change a setting lost by powering down but couldn’t find one. Not happened again since

Many thanks Robert 👍 hope my depleted wine stocks covered the cost of the spray 🤣👍
