This may help answer a few questions re setting up a firestick - especially if you've got time on your hands, You can set it up on your home TV and just take the firestick out with you on your motorhome travels. of course you will need an internet connection of some sort when you take it on your travels, so you can even pair the firestick with a mobile phone/mifi/motorhome wifi (with data access through another device) before you leave home, so it saves on setting up when you go out!

£100 is very expensive though .... and i do understand what you get for that and i am not so sure that Jim would thank you for offering it on here. if you can delete your post, Westies, i would .....

I should said from various videos of that same "free tech" YouTuber.

But full Sky everything, virgin, ect. Every sports channel including all countries. PPV boxing, porn...literally everything.

What is this IPTV you speak of?

Yes this is what I have this is the second year now I have had it.
£100 I think that's a absolute bargain when you could be paying that a monthly with sky.

I love the ppv boxing that's £20 on it's own just 1 fight all free

My point being is there are some reputable shady subs providers out there that will cost you lest than half of that for 12 months....
Will have to look into that thanks.

Make sure you install a decent VPN for your "free" viewing. ?
I have followed in the footsteps of MisterB, (thanks for all your help Dave. ?), by opting for Surf Shark which seems to cover it all, including BBC and Netflix, and is currently the best value at £1.59pcm.

Cheers,

Jock. ?

i’ve been messing about with fire sticks for years, the newer 4k ones, yes i know you don’t need 4k in the motorhome, but they simply work faster so easier you use.

they more or less come with all the catchup apps ready to get/go, itv and bbc iplayer,4 n 5, then you can advance then with adding a myriad of apps to get free tv if you want to, i have a film library stored on hard drives and using a free app called Kodi I can access those films or box sets whatever i have stored on that hardrive.

Then 1 step further now their is IPTV available, this for me is the way all tv will be broadcast soon enough, infact Virgin do it now, at just over a £1 a week for me it’s a no brainer and it will work anywhere in the world as long as you have internet access.

Streaming really is the future so take advantage of it and i know you’ll never look back, motorhomes are for enjoying and if that includes watching a bit of telly then why not i say

having internet access at a price that is affordable is the stumbling block at the moment, which is why i have opted for a sat dish AND the firestick. we have unlimited internet in the uk so we can stream watch as much as we want DEPENDING on signal strength. Overseas is a different issue at the moment

i do agree that internet tv seems to be the way forward, but i always wonder what next is just around the corner ......

I’m lucky to have both mine and my wife’s phone on Vodaphone which allows up 100gb a month each which is more than enough so tether to those

I have a Maxview 85cm satellite dish which when in Benidorm works perfect for all the normal itv bbc stuff, but anything else it’s iptv, 18 moths ago, I very nearly changed the dish to an Oyster 5 dish at £2.5k, am i glad I didn’t now

100gb per month in europe, every month or 'fair overseas use'?

i think what you have 'available' is very similar to what i am hoping i have set up LOL. until i get chance to test it all overseas .....

i’m lucky to have contracts from Vodafone that have no fair useage caps, i think the newer unlimited contracts do have the fair useage caps in force, whether they do cap it though i really don’t know tbh

I too have the Vodafone 100Gb deal for £20pcm Dave, and it has unlimited roaming in the 48 countries listed. As mentioned by al briscoe, the unlimited contracts do have a roaming limit, which I think is around
20Gb pcm. ☹️

Cheers,

Jock.

Hi we have Firesticks in the home and MH, sideload Virgin TV to GO on them to cut down on the amount of VTV boxes in the House, but had to keep one so we can access VTC. Not been able to get SKY GO working on it .

hi Jock

i very recently renewed both contracts dealing direct with Vodaphone who initially wanted me to go with a new unlimited ones

i held out and managed to keep the ones we have so alls we’ll for another year

if you don’t travel abroad to europe for months at a time then the new ones are very good value tbh

Thanks, i got an unlimited (in the UK) 3 contract for around the same price, which Yvette will soon take over (but not paying the bill though LOL) so we can roam ok in the UK. it only gives 20 gb in mainland europe and i have 15 on my phone. which is why i put the sat dish on, but until we have used it abroad i dont know what we will get or not. as its a twin lnb 85cm with auto skew i am hoping we will get most FTA channels - which is more than enough and save the data for when something special is on

i will start looking around for some good data offers but as things stand at the moment we can get enough to watch with what we have. always open to a good deal though if one comes along .....

Hi Al. ?

Upon the advice from a chap in the Thetford Vodafone shop some months ago, I didn't approach Vodafone when the 12 x months was up. He advised that I should say nothing and just let it run, as although the cash back deal has expired, the current half price contract could possibly run for as long as 2022, whereupon, I can negotiate a better deal hopefully. VF have recently upped the monthly charge by a whole £1.00. ? .............. ?

For the price of a pint and a half a week, I've taken his advice and kept schtum. ?

Not been able to get SKY GO working on it
We struggled using the daughter's Sky Go App when in Spain. It turns out that whilst you can connect to a non smart TV via HDMI from a laptop, you can't from a tablet or a smart phone. ☹
I might as well watch it on the laptop then. ?

Cheers,

Jock. ?

I can also recommend the Troypoint service, very informative updates and tutorials

I get it all for £60. plus hundreds of films, box sets, the lot! I would happily pay £100.00 for what I receive, (Sorry private source!). You just need to check you have good internet before buying.
