Have managed to acquire a layer of tree sap on my roof and bonnet. Any help in ways of removing it appreciated.

The very hottest water you can stand and washing up liquid and lots of elbow grease. Be aware though that the washing up liquid removes everything. Polish, wax etc so the paint will need waxing etc afterwards.
This is how we removed it when I worked in the bodyshop as a panel beater.

Car body tar remover.
Thanks for getting the popcorn ready Mr Buttons……..but I don’t like popcorn.

Perhaps I should have been more specific,I was meaning the stuff that AutoGlym sell as tar spot remover for cars,it works well.

Greetings from the Costa del Sol.
Just been around the back of the van and discovered tree sap.

I've found an immediate removal liquid that I bought a couple of days ago for another use but, hey ho! this is cheap enough and available everywhere over here.

Oh! Yes! The stuff to get is Alcohol 96percent. It's used over here as a cleaner and boy, does it work.
It also removes stray mastic from a new side marker fitment.
But that's another story.

I got a load on the van in Spain parked under a tree, used some methylated sprit which worked a treat, then just polished and waxed to seal. Have not been on the roof yet but can imagine its pretty covered.
