Hi fellow members,

Just literally started with a motorhome today. I have opened the gas valve but it’s not coming through….is there something else I need to trigger inside the vehicle ?

cheers

There is often a button on the regulator. Crash button, than needs to be pushed in.

are any gas appliances working...?

There is usually a set of gas taps in a cupboard to isolate each unit... ie Cooker/Boiler/Fridge etc..

Make sure they have not been turned off...

And make sure you have gas and the regulator is on firmly..

A pic of your valve will help.

You will also have a gas manifold somewhere that can turn the gas off to various things, but most people don’t touch them.

There'll be a manifold somewhere with individual taps for the various gas appliances which may need to be turned on,..........fridge, hob, oven, water heater........
Something like this:

As above, look for a green button on your regulator and/or pig tail (pipe from bottle to regulator) if it is fitted you will need to press every time you disconnect and reconnect the bottle

Have a look at this at 2min 28 secs onward. It shows how to turn the gas on.

EDIT - Ah, now you posted a photo of yours I see the video shows a Gaslow refillable system which is different from your A70DK (but info on other stuff may be useful).

Also don't forget that if you are trying the gas rings on the cooker you may need to keep the knob pushed in for a short while until the gas is flowing and the thermocouple is up to temperature (safety device that cuts the flow if the flame is not lit)

Also, does the gas power the oven and the hot water ?

There may be air in the pipes which needs to be expelled before the gas can get through to each appliance so it may not be instantaneous.

Also, does the gas power the oven and the hot water ?
Usually, yes, if not on Electric Hook-Up - the gas oven will still be on gas, of course!

Ok - has that allowed you to use the hot water heater? What about the oven - still no gas…..?

I’ve hooked up to an electric point
Do you actually have gas in the bottle?

To me they look as if they are off! Surely they should be horizontal not vertical?
I was looking at the graphic to the right and in the middle…….

On the gas regulator is a yellow button that is the crash sensor. This needs to be pressed to release the gas.

Also is there a green button on the hose just after it joins bottle? If yes, that needs pressing in.

If still no gas turn off the bottle, and start to slowly/carefully undo the pigtail (hose from regulator to gas bottle) once removed gently start to open the bottle, just to make sure you’ve got gas. Let out as little as possible.

The gas will power fridge (most vans), boiler for hot water and heating, oven (if fitted) and hob. The oven is the only item that is gas only, and sometimes hob, depending if you have one electric ring

Three of ours are horizontal-on and one is vertical-off, that’s the Bullfinch!
They are in the cutlery drawer space.
