I'm thinking about fitting a battery monitor to check on the levels of vehicle and leisure batteries. I thought I'd put it next to the solar control panel. This has been fitted (by the previous van owner) and the wiring is hidden. That is, it is simply out of sight. I realise it must be behind coving or trucking but how do you get this off to follow the wiring?

I'm reluctant to start digging around with a screw driver and damaging the finishing of the panels.

I've put a rather poor photo (because it's dark). I really hate these winter afternoons!

Many thanks.

Good luck come election time then....

remove the speaker and it will reveal a void behind the panel. trace the wiring from there

You should be able to access inside that compartment by temporarily removing the speaker. It may make it more obvious whether and how you can remove a panel if necessary. Alternatively you would need to use cable draw tape to feed your new wiring through to another accessible location.

You could get a Victron BMV with bluetooth, then there is no need to cut holes for the display and trace wiring routes. I have left the display in the battery compartment and use the Victron Connect App to keep an eye on things. So much less invasive.
