Hi all

I have a curved roof and one of the 4 solar panel mounts won't be fully secure because there's a gap as shown in the pic because there's a ridge raised up running down the centre of my roof as part of the design.

I'm only going to be securing with sikaflex, no screws because I don't want to risk future leak problems.
What material should I use that's strong enough to bond well to the roof and the panel mount with sikaflex and where can I buy it? It doesn't need to be anything complex, I just think wood is probably not the best idea

Use aluminium - that way you can avoid the area. 50 x 50 x 2 angle each mount 100 - 150 long.

Think he means use right angle aluminium 50x50mm and 2mm thick. Rivit it onto the solar panel and then you'll miss the ridge in the roof.

You can also get mounting "corners" for solar pannels. They are then also distancers to the body

As above - add some distance between underside of panel and van roof - allows heat to escape and avoids problem of ridges in roof.

OK ill look into that. Would the metal 50 x 50 ones sold in B&Q and similar be made of aluminium? If not, where to get them from ideally?

B&Q will be expensive and probably cut into too short a length. Google for metal supplies in your area. When I got mine I went to an industrial unit and the guy cut them to length. Was about 12 quid 👍
