How to actually contact DVLA?

I bought my van in July, I STILL dont have the V5 back.

Ive looked a few times since then on their website, and every time I end up back at the same place and end up giving up until I can summon up the will to try again. Today is one of those days.

"You can not use this service if you've already sent your log book (V5C) by post"

The dealership allegedly sent the V5 off, Ive repeatedly asked them to look in to it, but they're (impressively) even more useless than DVLA it seems.

Does anyone have one those new fangled TELEPHONE number things please so I can actually SPEAK to them?

Ive been waiting 5 months to get the V5 so I can send it straight back again to get the up-plate registered (which after another 5mths they will no doubt then get wrong so we can start this whole charade again).
Strange how quickly and efficiently they managed to process my payment for taxation on the same day. No delays there!

Anything to do with dvla, you just have to ring them, persivere till you get someone who seems to know what you want, get their name and stick with them, on email, letters or whatever put their name on it, waste of time just sending random posts.

Try 0300 790 6802

That's the number I've rung them on with ongoing queries with my V5

I can imagine your frustration but cannot help.
The DVLA does not have the monopoly on poor 'customer' service. It seems to be very common to make it as difficult as possible;e (if at all) to speak to anyone in an organisation these days. If you do, it's likely to be one of the lowest-paid front-line staff with little ability to do anything for you.
I wish you luck!

Letter to your MP. Some of them are looking into the DVLA matter now.

Good ol DVLA.
I just got off the phone with them, the "system" (which like all government computer systems cant be wrong) shows it was delivered on the 24th (the very same day I bought the van)
Hats off to them, that means that having bought the van just before closing time on the 24th, the efficient DVLA not only processed it, but delivered it as well all in less than an hour. I actually had to state it was sarcasm when he agreed this was correct.

and they want £25 to replace the look book (that they havent sent me in the first place).

Ive filed an official complaint (for all the good that will do)

24th of what? If it's less than three months ago, stick with it, it will appear.
Sorry read your op again

Had the same when taxing my Skoda after first year. just had to accept it . State monopoly. Not fit for purpose. Passport office the exact opposite, superb service.

Try their online complaints procedure, earlier in the year I got a response within a few days and the problem resolved in a week. Other Funsters have found that it works too. Ask the dealer for the proof of posting/delivery of the application, it is not always the DVLA’s fault and they may need the dates to look for the paperwork.

Not this car but the car before I kept phoning the dvla for my logbook and as many have said they have not got it .

six months after I got it through the post seems the dvla had to write to the seller that was in this case not the garage I bought it from for confirmation that they had sold it.

sat on my drive all that time as I was unable to tax it.
and even got mail asking me to tax it or sorn it .
so one section does not know what the others are doing.

this time with the Moho I got both sections of the logbook copied them and then sent it off.
came back within two weeks.

Yes get them fine letters all the time, £1000 for no tax yet the tractors are nil tax, so they are wasting post and people's time for nothing.

I had to look-up the DVLA Chief Execs name and emailed her direct telling her she was failing at her publically funded job and the Dept. she was responsible for was not fit for purpose.
Suprise, suprise a few days later, on a Sunday, I got a phone call to say my V5 was being issued that day.

Yes, you guessed it. It was wrong when it arrived.

done that already.
Im not paying for a duplicate of something they have failed to provide in the first place.

Interesting to note on their website it states to get proof of posting when sending it to them, but they dont bother when sending it back.
Its their responsibility not mine. Im not giving them a penny.

I checked online today, they definitely received the paperwork or online request (from the dealership I bought it from) to change ownership because it shows change of owner on the 24th July. Its up to them to ensure they return the log book not me.

oh the irony.
DVLA's response has been its my fault for not contacting them during the first 6 weeks (when their own website specifically states NOT to contact them during the first 6 weeks....):unsure::unsure:
They said they will send a replacement only during the first 6 weeks as a gesture of goodwill (but on the website categorically state not to lol!)

Ive stated the responsibility to supply it still remains solely with them and their argument is mute as they are telling people not to contact them during those 6 weeks.
